Strangely it took a bad game from him to recognise how good he was. I realised that I had been taking it for granted that he would have a great game every single week and a slightly off performance from him felt so weird. Very few players achieve that level of consistent excellence.

I've got a tear in my eye that I won't be seeing him play again. An amazing player and great bloke.

One of my favorite memories of the 2007-11 side was Corey Enright picking up the ball at pace and in one motion handpassing it nearly 30 metres perfectly placed to a running SJ who kicked it of off the side of his boot 40 metres straight to a leading forward. It was "What is this, the Harlem Globetrotters!?" Corey's skill set was amazing, like most of those guys.

An absolute champion, very rarely played a bad game, honestly can't pick one off the top of my head, not many players ever reach that level of consistency.

Best small defender I've ever seen, we've been so lucky he spent 17 years with the cats. Legend player and an even better bloke off the field.

Will be missed Boris!!!

And those people are right

While there's some similarities between Enright & Stewart - mainly that they both wear the #44, they are different types of players where their individual skill sets are more complementary of each other rather than comparative to each other

Enright would lockdown on the opposition's best small forward, take them out of the game, while still having an attacking impact on the game

Stewart is not a lock down defender by any means, he's struggled when opposition teams have made him play accountable & tight football - you'd happily play Enright on someone like Cyril, but we really don't want to see Stewart lining up on Charlie Cameron again

Stewart is at his best when he's playing with freedom, when he can be the loose player in defence and we can take advantage of his ability to read the play and provide drive from defence

It's great that we've been able to have both these guys in the hoops & coincidentally wearing the same number - but I don't understand the need for comparisons between the two when they have different strengths & styles of play

I agree with a lot of what you are saying but I’ve not seen any evidence of Stewart struggling as a defender when made accountable or forced to play one on one.

He’s not Scarlett or Silvagni but he doesn’t struggle.

Yes if you put him on a player like Cameron he will: he’s 4 inches taller than Cameron for starters. Enright was only 4cm shorter than Stewart but he was leaner and obviously better built to play small than Stewart.

Put Stewart on any medium to tall forwards and he won’t get dominated. Might not dominate them either but he would still be able to play a role
