There is more to come, much more. Trump and his cronies are planning to overturn the sitting government and form their own by early March. That’s why so many gun toting Republicans are sticking by him. I have read some chilling stuff, really chilling.

Does ANZUS mean we and the Kiwis have to come to their rescue?

According to McGowan he worked two 12 hour shifts one on 26th and one on 27th Jan and now you tell me he he is a Uber driver as well?

You are right though, if the info is correct these Premiers simply do not learn. They all think their quarantine system is water tight and you have to wonder what they do at these National Cabinet Meetings. Two jobs for a Quarantine Hotel security guard is a real no no.
What actual system did McGowan have besides opening/shutting his border and blabbing off at every other state? He didn't have any plan at all, he spoke tough but didn't do much.

I don't live there anymore, but talking to family who were here over Christmas, and my friends over there they knew this was coming over there at some point. McGowan actually did nothing bar grandstand, and then made the same mistakes other states made.

I hope everyone in WA gets out of their lockdown soon and it's only for the 5 days, but as for McGowan I've been laughing at that moron all afternoon.

The list of potential exposure sites across Perth continues to grow after it was revealed a hotel quarantine worker in Perth who tested positive to COVID-19 is also an Uber driver.

Just pay these lads more, so they don't have to work a second job

I remember I mentioned about a month ago how disturbingly happy people are for their governments to take away their civil liberties without any good explanation and was laughed at by a few regulars on this thread.

1 person in a city of over 2 million has a virus with a low single digit mortality rate. He has had the virus for either 5 or 6 days and is not confirmed to have spread it to anyone as of yet.

Result? Entire city put into lockdown for 5 days barring work that can't be done from home, grocery shopping, medical and 1 hour excercise per day close to home. Thousands of businesses closed for at least a week, at their own expense. Masks mandatory outside of your own home.

Has there been a good explanation provided as to why this is necessary when a much larger city (Sydney) has clearly shown the ability to manage much larger numbers of covid cases than 1? Nope! But guess what, nobody even cares, everyone is more than happy for the government to do whatever they like with no questions asked whatsoever.

add to that a massive police recruiting drive, the largest in WA history

This is very interesting times and nothing good comes from governments over reaching or power grabs

Seriously. Security guard at quarantine hotel lacking effective training re protective gear?
Goes drives uber whilst not working at hotel?Has flatmates doing likewise?

That was dumb before anything went wrong.

Pretty sure there was 4 full flights into Adelaide from Perth Sunday maybe 4 full flights Saturday as well.

McGowan too busy showboating to actually look at what was going on in his own backyard.

McGowan isn't the only one. Gladys has wasted no time imposing restrictions on people from WA entering NSW. At the same time Gladys imposes restrictions on West Australians entering her State she criticises Annastacia Palaszczuk for 'hasty' border decisions. Given Mark McGowan's stance on border closures I cannot help but think that Glad is having a quiet gloat in the corner over WA's misfortune.

If I lived in WA I might see things differently but this is suspected to be the UK variant and if it takes hold in the community it will spread rapidly. Five days isn't that long and it is Perth's first lockdown in 10 months. Good luck to the people in Perth I sincerely hope this is an over reaction.

Sydney was pretty lucky it was not the UK variant as this is suspected to be. That 145 people in the North Shore cluster could have become over 500 if it had been the UK variant. It is important to realise that this is not the same virus code we were dealing with 12 months ago and it is calculated that it can spread up to 7 times faster than the original COVID strain.

If I lived in Perth I would be more pissed off that this is yet another escape from Hotel Quarantine and that the person infected was working at two jobs. Allowing Quarantine Hotel staff to work in two jobs was a mistake that both Victoria and South Australia learned the hard way but obviously the WA Government took nothing from the experience of others. What will now happen is the WA Government will launch an inquiry into how the virus escaped from quarantine and some time down the track will attempt to show they are 'on the ball' by banning quarantine workers from having two jobs.

Unfortunately while we still have Quarantine Hotels located in the CBD's of our major cities and Premiers who will not learn from the experiences of other States we will get more lockdowns.

Best wishes to those of you in Perth, stay safe.

^^^^ NSW didn’t close borders on Victoria til they hit 180 cases a day. If anyone in this country hasn’t been hasty it’s NSW. But old Ronatalia runs his own commentary, as is his right, without considering all the information at hand.

Easy to play the big tough premier when it mostly effects people from interstate.

Be interesting to see what people think of him now that they have their own lockdown

Of course it grows. Every hotel breakout from states seems to have involved people who worship the Leyland Brothers. Just once for a breach I’d like to see ‘The worker went home and watched TV and relaxed in their downtime, the list of exposure sights is zero’. Maybe they need to start personality testing hotel quarantine workers and only hire Introverts.

I was thinking about this last night. WA has a higher % of rednecks than Vic and NSW (this is my own thoughts if anyone asks for a link suck my baws) and we know rednecks don’t like being locked down. That said Western Australians are very parochial so McGowan sells an us against the world message and he’ll get more popular.

Seeing the supermarkets stripped bare again for no reason whatsoever fills me with despair. Sadly the media love such images and gleefully roll them out at every opportunity, whilst telling people not to do it. It just makes it so hard for the vulnerable and those that really do need to shop every day or have special needs for goods they can no longer procure. I wish people were less selfish.

The worst possible place to be in that situation is in a supermarket, so much simpler to go there a day or two later when they have been restocked and the rush is over.

Darwinism at work.

Bizarre isn't it. Understood it back in March as it kind of felt like the world was ending but even for our second lockdown in Melbourne when we were warned of shortages I had no urge to go and buy supplies.

Too many dumb campaigners. That's why we can't rely on democracy. These people vote

What, you mean the latest WA “outbreak” didn’t start in a restaurant, sporting event or nightclub? It started in a quarantine hotel once again? I am truly shocked.
I would have thought that WA, of all states, with its existing FIFO work culture, would have been well placed to implement remote quarantine. But no, let's do it in the CBD using moonlighting Uber drivers for staff 🙄

Pretty much what I did when we had our 6 day (soon to be 3) lockdown. Went to the supermarket 2 days later. Lo and behold, fully stocked shelves and almost nobody there. In fact more checkout people almost than customers. People are idiots.

Just by paying the security workers a decent wage they could have avoided lockdowns and the loss of millions.
Amazing how nearly every state has been so dumb.

Bwahahaha.
Don't you just love it?
Similarities to here last November!
Just mind boggling.
And these people are allowed to breed as well???? 🥴 o_O

they will keep f**king with our "freedoms" like this until we are hysterically and impatiently begging for a vaccine so we can "return to normal". you already hear people (i literally heard it from an esteemed doctor) hysterically shrieking to get vaccinated so things can go back to normal. there is no back to normal lol
