Coup in Zimbabwe? - Mugabe Resigns

One wonders if things would've turned out differently had ZAPU and Nkomo's strategy to roll in the tanks from Tanzania once Mugabe's guerrilla forces had done the hard work ended up working.

Nkomo was no better, he had lots of skeletons in his closet.

From an economic point of view, kicking the farming industry in the gonads was just scratch my head type of decision. No provision for training and transition of farm workers to running the farms.

If you're coming from the position that they never should have turfed Smithy I can see where you're coming from. But you can't ignore his role as a liberation leader if you're looking at his overall legacy.

Liberation leader fair enough. But asking if he is a hero is a stretch. Im not sure many would call FW de Klerk a hero for his role in ending apartheid for example.

Could you explain?

BBC reporting re Zim long been questionable (though was banned was from the country for quite a while) eg talking of war veterans taking over white farms.

Neo-con hates government funded news networks so attempts to sling mud any chance he gets.

neo con. You really are quite a few beers short of a case.

Worked with a couple of people from Zim back in 01/02. They were happy to have left. One had a son there who had to do stuff like borrow money to pay “war veterans” extra wages and lump sums mandated by successive laws etc.

I don’t know much about the area.

de Klerk is totally a hero to do what he did went against everything he knew. It was inevitable the Apartheid would finally fail but he embraced that inevitability rather than kick against it.
