It looks like the club will be announcing the coach within the next week - 2 weeks max.

The AFC will only choose one of 2 men; Neil Craig, whose publicity machine rivals that of a candidate for Prime Minister, or Rodney Eade, who will really deserve it if he gets it.

Craig or Eade. Eade or Craig.

Speak now or forever hold your peace.

PS Please post your choice so that we know which ones voting in the poll are genuine. :)

Thanks.

I want Rodney Eade.

I don't want us to be the next Western Bulldogs - a mob of battling scrubbers.

It's time for a clean sweep in the football department.

It's time.

Given up on the colours Macca?

Look as much as we may want another coach but Craig, it seems like he is as good as sold as future AFC coach (as much as I hate to say it). I would rather Eade, however chances of him getting the actual job are less than 50 -50. :(

I voted for Eade.

For the following reasons:

1. I believe the entire coaching panel should be replaced. They are out of ideas and we need a new approach.

If Craig stays I fear the broom we want to see go thru the club will stay inthe cupboard.

2. Our past three coaches have all had VFL/AFL playing and or coaching experience

To pick Craig who has no AFL playing experience would be a real drop in standards by the AFC. It also wouldnt fit in with the best practices of other non Vic clubs. All of them have coaches with Victorian experience.

3. From what I have seen over two months I do not think Craig is up to it.

Reluctantly Eade.

Things went bad for him at Sydney but maybe he'll have a new lease of life at Adelaide. He did have a moderate amount of success at the Swans after all.

I've seen nothing to convince me of Craig's credentials in the last month.

Can't really add much more than what I have on already said on this matter in other threads. IMO, if AFC appoint Craig we are accepting mediocrity. Eade in what should be a no-contest.

I am still a Craig fan
I like the man
Eade would be good
As O'Donnel would
We dont need a broom
Our youngsters will bloom
If Neil gets the chance to teach them.

Bourbon & coke tonight :D

True. My memory of it is that he didnt exactly ask for trouble at Sydney. When the board demanded he pick Plugger against his wishes, thats when it started. If the board had of kept out of the way, it may have been a different story.

Voted Eade as you would expect.

The coaching panel must be changed as part of the "new" era.
I hope Craig stays as part of the new ticket - we can ill afford to lose his expertise.

I still favour a joint ticket - why not 2 head coaches?
1 for team preparation, and 1 for strategy/tactics on matchday?
Not as if we can't afford it, or are simply too conservative when it comes to innovation?

Because once you have 2 bosses, the wheels start falling off. Its all nice in theory but in actual practice its almost impossible to pull off.

My mum could outcoach you Neil,
No guts, no balls, no steel
Agreed, the players like ya
But how long until the lycra?

Nah give us Rocket Rodney Eade,
Who'll p1ss off that oompa-loompa Reid
The man who made the Swans a force
The man who'll put us back on course.

Agreed Stiffy.

One ship, one captain.

Many business's have equal partners which works very effectively when there are clear and succinct job functions and responsibilities for each entity.

In football the question would be who is ultimately responsible (see scapegoat).
IMO it would still be the matchday coach, so it would not be completely an equal basis.

Wasn't that the criticism of St Kilda's rotating captain policy?

Seems many industry observers are now coming around to the fact that for St Kilda it was probably a good decision. Its about creating new industry paradigms.

Collingwood with its offer to Eade appear to be breaking this mould you speak of?
Is it a good idea, well I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand. ;)

Beautiful work. :D

DT, did you read in the paper today the Rex Hunt has nicknamed Neil Craig "Jenny Craig"? Page 58.

Should be funny but isn't - because it could be true

Well it is the only logical choice of sobriquet ;)

Eade, though if you had of asked me when Ayres was sacked, I would have said no way to Eade over Craig, but since that time I am now convinced that we will be a bottom four club under Craig.

For me there are too many similarities between Peter Rhode and Neil Craig.

... & yet 1 won a premiership & the other didn't.

If the Crows lose at home against the Tigers, that would be the nail in Craig's coffin.
