Revealed: Where your club sits on AFL’s $276m ladder... and who’s getting the most help

FoFR0jZagAAtlK4

North Melbourne will become the Victorian club taking the most AFL assistance funding while Gold Coast and GWS again lead the way in 2023.

Four clubs will take the minimum base distribution, which this year will be between $10.5 and $11 million - Richmond, Hawthorn, Collingwood and West Coast.

In effect these are the most financially sound clubs, either because of their size and fan support, or in the case of the Hawks their strong bank account after selling their pokies assets.

Merge Saints and North

It's funny when North supporters get annoyed about suggestions their club should fold or merge or relocate, pointing to their "profits" and not being in debt.

Maybe part of why they aren't in debt is because the AFL gives them nearly twice as much money as Collingwood each year

The only clubs who should get more than the standard distribution are those in non-football states, where we're trying to develop the game.

If your team isn't viable and doesn't have support, then that's a clear message.

OK, I'll admit I've never been a KG fan .....but is young sports radio talent so rare, that KG is still being wheeled out for his opinion ?

I know the answer .....but it upsets posters

People whine about the young ones.
Actually come to think about it, people whine about everything and everyone.

Did anyone see this:

Crows strengthen governance

"Under the proposal, which requires formal approval at next month’s annual general meeting, Board-appointed Directors will be allowed to serve a maximum of four terms or 12 years.

Member-elected Directors will be able to serve four terms, equating to eight years, in a move which requires minor modifications to the Club’s Constitution."

Otherwise known as the "Rob Chapman" rule.

You dont think it was brought in because of Chapman?

Any review would highlight tenure as one of the issues. It was highlighted with McGuire.

In any system there must be checks and balances that stop the creation of cliques and yes men.

Term limits also energise people to actually implement change
