I'm not sure how to feel about this either, imagining Cloke in a Crows guernsey appears awfully ridiculous and unrealistic. But if Tippett leaves and we acquire Cloke, I wouldn't necessarily be complaining.

If we were confident there wouldn't be a contingency plan. Cloke is going to cost lots plus he can't ruck so Kurt would be our preferred option. Lose Kurt and we need to recruit a forward and a ruck.

but didn't we bring it to the front ourselves this week. its late enough in the year for the top half dozen clubs to get away with the 'concentrating on finals' line. as far as i'm aware it wasn't big news that he hadn't signed and now it's front and centre. i'd rather him and every other player just concentrate on footy. now everytime a player is interviewed this will be the 2nd question asked. now is not the time for this crap.

Cloke is a quality player and was a key component in the pies recent premiership drive. All of this crap has obviously affected his form.

If there is even a hint that tipp is going, and there is, we would derelict if we did not ask the question. If tipp goes I for one would more than hsppy to see Cloke with us, and I reckon just after he has clunked his third mark in the goal square....so will most of this board.

so theres a few reasons an article like this could have come about.

1. Tippett has indicated he's leaving and we're exploring an option
2. The Crows are sick of Tipps lack of urgency so have leaked a rumour to give him a subtle hurry up
3. The other clubs chasing Cloke have also got jack of his stuffing around and have pulled the pin.
4. The other clubs have lowered their offer because he's not playing well enough to command a 5 year deal and the Clokes have linked us because they are panicking
5. Brisbane/GC are just stirring the pot to get Tippo off side
6. The AFL have realised that Brad Crouch is a gun and are retrospectively taking away our mini draft pick. This story is just the diversion.

Don't want Cloke, it seems like clubs are emphasizing way too much on KPF's. I can't remember the last time the flag WASN'T won by an elite midfield with a good defence and an average forward line, apart from the odd exception to the rule. I don't think he's worth $1m so I hope we don't do anything dumb if we lose Tippett, who is only worth $700k in my view. We could easily win a flag with Sam Jacobs, 4 A+ midfielders, a solid defence and Taylor Walker et al.

If Tippo is going (I hope he isn't), then Cloke is the obvious replacement. Whilst certainly not overrating the dickhead family factor, I think a lot of you are underrating him as a player. Whilst he hasn't had a brilliant year by his standards, he's still kicked 42 goals and is currently leading the league in contested marks. The other thing is, if he wants to come here, we don't have to trade for him if Collingwood are unwilling to budge on their offer to him.

Brisbane or GC on the other hand, would need to trade with us to secure Tippett. So it could work out rather well for us.

All of this being said, I wouldn't read too much into it at this stage, even with Harper's confirmation. Every club who can afford Cloke would be making an enquiry. You'd be stupid not to ask when he can be gained without losing anything other than a chunk of salary cap.
