People forget that Lewis Johnston is only 21, so is McKernan. A lot of potential between the two, hopefully we see it before they are 24 and one of them comes up trumps.

I assume the reason for the slow negotiations is that Adelaide are trying to negotiate Kurts salary off a estimated $700K ....
Ok given Collingwood have offered supposedly $800K and 4 years and the other offers range around the $1M and 5 years

So we trying to negotiate down and at the same time we're saying we're prepared to pay $200-$300 per season extra for Cloke
Now all that does is say to Kurt there's more money available in the pot ......i'll hang out longer!! and I'll go for 5 years as well given that;s what Ade;laide have to have as part of the Cloke package

Is he really a fame wh*re? I think he is unfairly gaining a reputation as a ****wit at the hands of his w***er of a father. From what I've read on him in the past, he's apparently a pretty shy sort of guy who spends a lot of time at home, which doesn't really point to being a media wh*re. He probably just needs to tell his dad to **** off and find another job, but I guess that's easier said than done.

Personally, I think Cloke is a better forward than Tippett (not by a huge margin though). However, the versatility that Tippett has puts him just ahead for me.

Seems pretty thick to me from what I've seen in his interviews and when appearing on the footy show. Also seen that he has been doing modeling (think it was on before the game) which doesn't really suggest to me that he is a shy person.

Like I have said during the trade period last year, we might have burnt our bridges with Kurt when we tried to trade him to Brisbane last year. You just don't do that with the player that you see as a major piece of your side. We tried to be smart but in the process we outsmarted ourselves!

Tippett is'nt worth the money he wants.. brisbanes willing to pay it.. they need a replacement for Brown...Cloak however.. wants to be at a successful club with the money... we also get a good trade for Tippett because he's ristricted and with Cloak being a free agent... he's.....free

Totally agree re Cloke. His dad would have to be one of the greatest pains in the arse going, while Cloke himself is very hot and cold, but more importantly, very one dimensional.

Tippett can play CHF, FF or ruck so IMO is much more the modern day footballer than Cloke.

It would shit me to tears if Tippett left us just as we are getting to the stage where we can threaten for a flag over the next 3 years or so. Obviously he is not filling the club with total confidence that he is planning to stay, or we wouldn't be looking at Cloke or talking to his near illiterate father/manager.

I agree that more than likely it is only a contingency plan, with its main aim to let Tippet know that he's actually replaceable as you've said.
It's up to VB, Danger, Sloaney, Thommo etc to put the pressure on Tippett to sign as they have. Hopefully he does, and we can get on with the important task of trying to win flags.

Whereas Brisbane and Gold Coast will be getting on with the important task of not sucking too badly. Honestly, we're a flag threat, Brisbane & GC are not and won't be for probably three years. Tippett's not exactly young either - he's already 25, heading into the prime of his footballing life. If he has another 6 - 8 years in the game, he could be spending half of it waiting for his teammates to work out how to play, instead of staying here having the ball delivered lace out.

Would have to be nothing more than a contingency plan re Tippett and good on the Crows for doing their homework. Would prefer to keep Tippett over Cloke, but the reason we're sounding Cloke out is we may not get a choice.

Cloke would no doubt be a great replacement, especially considering we wouldn't have to trade for him. I think he could work in well with Walker too. Unlikely we'd actually convince him to come, but would be a pretty big coup for the club, Cloke is a big name and would be great for the marketing department.

Hope Kurt stays, but if he goes we could do a lot worse than bring in Travis Cloke as a replacement, as unlikely as it is.

Have to disagree.....we've made it very very clear we want him to stay...the only thing stopping him from staying is and has always been his desire to live in Adelaide....If he really wanted to stay with the Crows he would've signed already....bye bye Kurt
