Other Teams
Adelaide Crows, Centrals
B Bassett, Rutten, Johncock
HB Reilly, McGregor, Begley
C Mattner, Riciuto, Burton
HF Hentschel, Perrie, Edwards
FF M Stevens, Welsh, Hudson
R Clarke, McLeod, Shirley

Int Hart, Biglands, Thompson, Van Berlo, Bode, Schuback, S Stevens, Doughty, Bock

I'd like to see Hart, Biglands, Thompson, Van Berlo make the team.

I know I have said that I would leave Hart out for a week, but the Port Magpies have named S Stevens, which would rule him out for the Crows IMO. I'd also rather play Hart than Bock.

I really hope VB and Thompson (Thommo also named for Port Magpies) come in to the side as we are screaming for some new faces. I hope the selectors give the fans some new faces in Round 1.

With Hinge and Torney the only injured players on the injury list, I am surprised at the lack of AFC players in the SANFL. Chad Gibson is in the Norwood ressies, but no sign of Meesan anywhere.

Is the website correct or have I missed something?

Nye is the Rosters ressies, Maric is the Mapies ressies.

Ladhams, Jericho, Krueger, Andrews are also named for SANFL senior teams.

I think the team in the paper was a guess as there was no Meesen in either Norwood or Crows. It said in one of the articles that the 25 man squad would be named today so I'm presuming that all teams from the media so far have been made up, as the AFC haven't released anything.

Doughty, Hart and Burton all named in the starting 18. Clarke and Biglands both named on the interchange. Thommo not named.

Is Doughty Craigy's love child?????? He missed a month with a broken hand and comes straight back in. I guess his inclusion gives us a rebounding HBF and gives us opportunity to play Reilly in the midfield. If Dogga can play as well as he did against Port in the Wizard Cup I would be very happy.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Van Berlo will miss out??????:(

F: Stiffy Perrie Welsh
HF: Shirley Stevens Hentschel
C: Burton Roo Reilly
HB: Dogga McGregor Mattner
B: Bassett Rutten Hart
1R: Hudson McLeod Edwards

INT: Clarke, Van Berlo, Bode, Skippy, Begley, Biglands, Bock

I may have heard incorrectly, but I think channel nine said that Van Berlo and Begley will probably be the ones who miss out

Well if we go in with both Biglands and Clarke, we are taking a HUGE punt.

Thats 4 players with interrupted preparation and Burton with an iffy hammy

Heard the squad on SEN a bit earlier and have been trying to find it on the net without joy.

I'm sure NVB was named on an extended bench, Benny was included, but no mention of Thompson. Don't know about Begley.

I posted the official squad.

Generally the players listed in the 18 are those that will definetly play (unless they have an injury before the game)

Yep you're right. Both of those boys are quite underdone, although so is Benny Hart.

Burton must have good recooperative (sp?) powers because when he did the hammy, it didn't look too good.

With virtually all of our squad bar a couple available Van Berlo was always almost a certainty to miss Stiffy, but no sweat, he''ll play AFL this year.

You'd think that one of the ruckman will miss as both are underdone. I've been hearing Biglands, but I'd prefer him to play and Clarke to miss.

I think one of the TV stations suggested Begley as the other to miss. I hope Craig wasn't listening or agreeing because Begley is the only player in our side that's stood Matera and beat him pointless.

Likley omissions are Van Berlo, Biglands and Begley,

but mine would be

Van Berlo, Clarke and Doughty

Yeah I realised after I had submitted my post. I should have known you'd be across it
:)

macca23, Doughty will definetly play. He has been named in the 18 and we all know Craig is in love with him

EDIT: Seaby out with a hammy for West Coast.

It does seem to be a very steamy passionate affair, Stiffy!! :D I'm sure he will play - I'm just saying he would be one of my omissions if it was my choice.

Seaby out is a bonus for us. He has heaps of potential, and could have been a bother lurking in the FP.

Question for one and all

Which 3 of the 7 players named on the interchange do you think

A) will be omitted?

b) should be omitted?

Will be ommited: Biglands, Begley and Van Berlo

Should be ommited: Bode, Skippy, Bock

I'd be willing to play both Clarke and Biglands.

Rotate Clarke and Biglands in the ruck and Stevo and Huddo up forward.

If VB does not get a run, I will not be impressed. To start the year without one new recruit in the team and give the same old second stringers another run is not what the club needs IMO. Give us someone new to cheer for AFC!!

Clarke, Bock and Skipworth should be omitted IMO.

I agree with Jerome, I'd love to see Van Berlo get a game.

I'd leave out: Biglands (especially now that Seaby is out), Skipworth & Bock
My Bench: Clarke, Van Berlo, Bode, Begley

I think the Crows will leave out: Biglands, Van Berlo :( & Begley :( .

p.s. Shirley and Doughty are obviously Craig's lovepuppies. Straight into the 18 ahead of Begley and Bode...FFS!!!

The sooner Craig gets these average performers (moreso Shirley than Dogga)out of his system, the better.

Was also disappointed that Thompson didn't get a run. Oh well, R2 versus Collingwood will be when our engine room should be firing on all cylinders (with Thommo and Goody in).

Thought Bock played in Norwood Reserves last night.

Well that would be pretty significant if that was the case.

He's a local Eagles man, but he could play in another club's reserves team because of his team's bye.

I'm pretty sure that Van Berlo will miss, which would mean the outs become Bock, Van Berlo and one other.

Because there's no Goodwin or Thompson they'll probably want to have 2 on-ballers on the interchange for increased rotations, which means that Bode and Skippy would both be in.

That leaves one of Clarke, Biglands or Begley to miss.

If it were my choice it would be Clarke. My fear is that it will be Begley.

I don't think we will go in with 3 ruckman especially considering 2 of them are seriously under done.

If Bock played for Norwood ressies last night then I would expect one of Clarke or Biglands to miss.

I agree with macca23 that Van Berlo will most likely miss out but not overly fussed with that as he has time on his side.

I'm starting to get the feeling the Count will play. Wouldn't he be named for South if he was playing SANFL?

He could be playing reserves like all our other draftees.

Both Van Berlo and Meesen have spent very limited time with their SANFL clubs so i very much doubt that they would be named in the seniors for round 1.

Meesen must have played in the seniors last night.

The Advertiser wrote...

"Norwood had an unexpected pre-match power boost when Port Adelaide gifted Roger James and Adelaide sent back its rookie ruckman John Meesen but neither had an impact. James, an AFL premiership hero just five months ago, struggled to pick up the pace of the game."

all the more reason to play 3 Stiffy....

That's why I think Begley could miss, for this very reason. Hudson plus 2 half fit ruckman might be needed to do the job of 2 fit ones.

Additionally Biglands provides another forward option.

It worries me though, because I genuinely think Begley is the right match up for Matera.
