Wasn't Rankine suffering from our ball movement and inside 50's?

Rankine: 15 disposals. 3 goals 2 behinds.
FOG: 4 disposals. 0 goals. 0 behinds.
Was always a crazy argument by STO but the hide of him to bring rankine into it and insinuate he’s struggled for few months other than beating up on weak teams

Rankine has now had elite games against the all of the top 4 teams and plenty of coaches votes in those games

Him and Dawson are prob 2 blokes in our side you’d trust at the absolute highest level like a grand final to put in an elite performance ( pity we won’t give them the opportunity )

Well at least my opinion is backed by the results at this stage. 1-7 away record in 2023. Clear gap between performance at home and away, bar 2 of those games. Motivation issue?

What a pathetic and dishonest thing to post. For one thing, I'm not an AFL coach because I do not, nor have I ever harbored any desire to be one.
So because we have lost away mostly to teams above us, you are happy to ignore all the improvements this year? What about losing margins? Last year away games losing margin was 35 points per game and we played more bottom 10 sides. This year 19 points and played much better opposition. We were accurate kicking away from beating 3 of the 7 away losses this year, last year we were never in the games.

Get something worth addressing.

The fact he had to put his hand up is what is wrong, he is literally our best midfielder and these supposed experts didn't see it.
You don't know that. For all you know, Dawson was going to transition to midfield in time and Dawson fast tracked it. You think Dawson in the midfield was some new idea? It's that old it's in his draft profile....

Well dawson has been quoted as saying he trained less in the midfield this off season than last.
It certainly wasn’t in the planning for 2023.

Just wondering, why aren't you an AFL coach? But Nick's is...

We aren't privvy to even 1% of what happens at the AFC. Or even what happens on game day. We can only have opinions on the little we do see, and if your opinion differs then fine.
Nicks is an AFL coach currently but he most likely will be sacked within 12 months.

With a likely 9th to 11th finish, and a much more competitive showing against the better teams, you would sack the coach who has an upward trend throughout a rebuild?View attachment 1754022
4 of those 11 seasons in the 8 only. Thats tragic for a club we think we are.
We are 13th atm but could finish 15th easily. Thats no real improvement in 4 seasons.

Wow.. you see that little graph you have put up there as a positive?..

bahahaha.. literally couldnt give a fxxk about upward trends that are still in the bottom 8.. that is Carloton fans levels of delusional.. “we’re on the up!!.. just watch out for next year” those morons have been saying for a decade now.

four years without a finals berth.

not one single one of our past coaches has lasted if they’ve missed the finals twice in a row.

if nicksy is in this same position next season and he isnt turfed then its a complete and utter joke,

he really should go this year.

In 4 years, we haven't reached the 2019 position and that was the end of the last guy. In most other comps he would have gone after the 2nd-3rd year. He is a nice guy but cant build a team.

Pretty much. He's too nice to make changes. Sloane, keays and murphy shouldn't be in the side.

Wouldnt even give borlase a go when we were too short in defence. Now there's a good chance he'll be forced to but that's not good enough.

I don't really trust that Nicks wouldn't fall in a heap if there are retirements, injuries to key players or just age catching up with a few stalwarts. I don't expect another 2020 but he could easily find himself back in that 2021/22 range imo.

Depending on who the injuries are, its hard for most clubs to cover that kind of thing. I dont think we will miss Sloane or Smith though, they can retire.

Goodwin took Melbourne from 5th to spoon runner up. Better sack him. Oh wait...

Chris Fagan x 2 bottom 4 finishes. Sack him. Oh wait, consistently top 4 now.

If you think there hasn't been significant improvement in such a young list, in culture, players signing on, game plan to see how Nicks goes next year then you have no concept of how bad shape our list was in pre-nicks

Losing to top 4 sides by 1, 2 and 4 points, and winning in 2 other games is improvement. I would say we are inconsistent this year, and consistently bad the previous 3 years.

Bahahaha.. wow.. double down why dont you!..

Putting aside that Goodwin and the Dees tanked the fxxk out of 2019..

You are talking about, and using as examples of, two sides in the Lions and Dees whos midfield stocks have been among the comps best in the last few years!.

We’ve had, and still have, laird, sloane (who we’ll give another year), keays, mcrouch (who we should delist but probably wont now he’s had “a good game”)

We have Dawson who’s looking great as a mid.

Then we have a whole heap of kids who we sometime give mid time to but most of the time we shun..

We are in nowhere near the same situation the lions or dees were in 2018-2021..
and its just utterly delusional to claim we are simply by putting up a graph and saying “look at this, look at this.. we’re going great”

Percentage is the best indicator, certainly better than wins/losses as a gauge.

I'm with you but we can't have another year without finals. It will be a disaster for Adelaide on all fronts. No top player will want to come here.

The Eagles are looking at tougher times despite being flush with money.
Speaking on Nine's Footy Classified, Wilson expected long-time Eagles CEO Trevor Nisbett to be the "first casualty", but suggested Simpson may not be far behind.
