We can't on one hand expect sportspeople to be role models while on the other hand telling the to shut their mouth about things that are important to them. Surely part of being a role model is standing up for your beliefs.

Regardless of the Alinta stuff, I'm glad it's not Warner or Smith. I'm still not super comfortable with the Capetown 3 even playing for Australia when none of them have told us the truth of what happened, the crocodile tears without explaining what they actually did (aside from "letting everybody down") were never enough. It's not a contrite apology if you will never admit what you did.

That said... you can keep digging a hole, can't you? It's impossible that you can be using sandpaper to tamper with a ball without the bowlers noticing it.

Fair point. Although to me it's less about standing up for what he believes in and more about trying to figure out what it is he actually does believe in .

Name any company capable of affording the $40+ million sponsorship Alinta paid (through some pretty rough times for CA) and I'll give you a list of ethical red flags for each.

Morals be damned if the only outcome was to ditch the sponsorships and have players and grassroots cricket take a significant pay cut.

Didn't they get a percentage of revenue in the last EBA negotiation? So he's putting his money where his mouth is to an extent.

Not really - Alinta isn't really the carbon emitter - but rather the millions of australian consumers who want power in their houses.

Ctricketers fly business/first class all over the world staying in lush hotels. Their footprint is massive and exponentially worse than the average punter.

He also takes the millions at IPL which have large emitters as sponsors.

I get avoiding gambling, firearms etc - those can easily be avoided. But carbon emission? That's a demand issue largely. And Pat as an individual is one of the worst in the world.

I agree this is just stupid by pat and a distraction leading up to the WC

If he believes so strongly give up your highly paid lucrative IPL contracts and stop flying around the globe

Yeah not with Cummins on this one.

Alinta (in partnership) built one of the biggest wind farms in the country in WA last year.

Natural gas is also one of the least emission-producing hydrocarbons.

Granted they are a large carbon emitter, but they're not doing nothing about it.

Sad.. he is like many celebs who massively overestimate their capacity and importance outside their field of expertise.

That said, I'm fine with the Netballers complaining about Gina. She's a slightly different story.. but this is just garbage.

Stop being so mature and reasonable about this and go and interrupt traffic or destroy a painting.

Lucky Cummins can bowl - because he's quickly showing himself to be a narcissistic prick

Paine is seeming like an alright bloke at this point.

I remember Cummins was going on about Dark Emu awhile back. That book is basically a poster child in white washing bollocks and he has lapped it up.

Massive hypocrite, sounds like he might need to start getting a ship to england/india instead of flying first class like he usually does lol

Some ok takes mixed in with some truly awful ones. But unfortunately this isn't the place to discuss it.

All these sportspeople happy to complain about sponsors is ridiculous given they’re the first to jump in line for more money. Yet now they want to limit where that money comes from in a tight economy.

The problem is as they have EBAs, it’ll be grassroots sports that suffer when the money dries up.

So Will Climate Professor Cummings give up playing night cricket.....you now playing under those dirty light towers powered by dirty electricity powered by those dirty coal power stations......decisions..decisions..
