Re: D4 Section Ammos

Not sure what the issue has been the last couple of years, i'm always impressed with the quality of football Eltham plays. Seeing names like McLaren, Galvin and Andrews in reserves squads indicates a fair bit of depth (even if some of those were disciplinary selections) so it could very well be the year for Eltham to achieve what they're capable of.

I would prefer you didn't though. ;)

Ever the diplomat Abba.

Not so sure I would right off Sth Motnington yet; and Albert Park have huge potential to cut through an opposition if they can ever get rid of the injury curse.

Re: D4 Section Ammos

You may be right there spy. South will only get better, but might have to wait until next year. Albert Park seem to match up better against some sides and not so well against others; if they played top footy every week they could go a long way.

Re: D4 Section Ammos

South Mornington have the potential to be a good side in this grade. If Tim Allen (former St Kilda / Hawthorn player) who is on their list gets out on the park he will win games off his own boat. One of the best local players Ive seen play when playing with Mornington in the MPNFL. Will carve D4 Ammos up. Having said that I think he will only play a handful of games for them but watch out when he does!!

Re: D4 Section Ammos

The gulf between Eltham, St Marys and the rest is enormous and results reflect this so far. As for the other 2 finals sides looks a 3 way race between UHS, Box Hill and the Falcons. If Falcons have any luck with injury put them in the picture ahead of Box Hill.

Re: D4 Section Ammos

Thanks Lakey11. I have probably played against you as I only play ressies. All teams go through patches - we have been there abouts for the last few years - a year of re-building shouldn't be too bad for the cobras. We have recruited a lot of new players who haven't played alot of footy, they have talent and a year of footy under their belt will make them better players next year. The improvement in these guys even over the 1st 3 rounds has been astonishing.

We have the same thing down at the snakes in the two's, and its amazing how quick they start to gell and play good footy. Wont be long and we will put 4 quarters together...

Look forward to our game against your blokes and even more so to the beer afterwards!

Good luck this weekend

Re: D4 Section Ammos

South Mornington are definitely going to be a team of the future. All young hard running and tackling players. Although they could do with a good hairdresser down that way.
Although Eltham lost to Saint Mary's i think they would be my favourites for the flag. A lot of great players that have come across from juniors in the DVFL. Good to see Stricko down there. Hate to have to play against him rather than with him but hopefully he is up in the one's soon.
Albert Park will definately be up there at the end of the season, especially if it stays dry with the amount of talls they have. I agree with Falcon that BHN are definately the underdogs going into this weeks game. BHN have had some good wins but seem to always peak a bit more towards the end of the season. I think they will have to work extremely hard though to come close to St Mary's or Eltham this year.
I personally can't wait to play against both of the Saints and Turtles as they are the best of the best this year. I guess when it really comes down to it that's what footy is about. I think it's good to see how positive the games have been so far this year. Seems like all of the teams seem to be playing fair and we are not having to deal with any w**nkers like Hawthorn last year. Only one D4 player been to the tribunal so far this year. Keep up the good work boys.

Lots of rain today boys. Who will this benefit do you think???

Re: D4 Section Ammos

Who do you play for Chewy? Bulleen perhaps? Maybe you'll line up on Stricko next week? As he'll more than likely be in the 1's this week and most likely play at HFF as I believe you may be a HBF? Not sure if your seniors or reserves though? Anyway sure to see you during the season at some stage.

Re: D4 Section Ammos

Heard alot of talk on this forum recently.

What D4 will come down to is the team that wants it more.

Simple.

Bit harsh on Hawthorn Chewy. They were good last year.

Rain? Haven't really had a lot of the wet stuff and the grounds will soak it up like a sponge........no issue this weekend.

Looking forward to watching Papaloma or whatever his name when I can get to a game - you St Marys blokes have certainly talked him up. Talk about put a kid under pressure.

Re: D4 Section Ammos

Hawthorn are the most pathetic team to have played in D4. Never before have I played against such a dirty, unsportsmanlike, whinging, crying, sniping team like them.

They deserve nothing less than the sh*t we give them.

Re: D4 Section Ammos

I have every confidence in the people skills of Ed Sill to change the image down there. Certainly getting the results in D3 at present.

Don't know what this rain will do to results over the weekend, but my vege patch is loving it.

Re: D4 Section Ammos

Agree Spy 1. Went to school with Ed (B Grade side) and they had a big go to get him to take over as President two years ago. Wasnt a good time work wise as he had just taken over as CEO of a large multinational. Plus he was never likely to leave Hawthorn having started the club with a few mates 10 years ago. I know he was concerned about how the club was viewed and has targeted 2-3 guys who are causing the most grief. Tends not to lose his battles (except with his waistline!).

Re: D4 Section Ammos

Flowerpower think about it do u think St Marys would be talking up pappaluca or do u think others from rival clubs in this forum are instead?
Pretty easy answer!

Leave the kid alone i say, how about we talk about the Blagrove's, Whyte's with VFL experience who could quiete cleary still be playing that type of grade.

Kind of agree but, they where just big fish in a small pond. They knew that and let their arrogance get in the way of their sportsmanship.

Let the universe take care of them. (Karma gives a massive wedgie and and belts with an even bigger stick!)

I disliked hawthorn as much as anyone, but give credit where credit is due. JP is a good bloke & I know of a few other blokes that played at Hawthorn who were good guys.

There was a comment earlier about a few guys that Ed Sill is trying to take care of. Good luck to him because everyone who played against them last year knows who the tossers were....

At the same time, every club has a tosser or two playing for them. Put any random 50+ blokes together & there will be at least 2-3 that you'd prefer not to share space with. That's just a fact of life.

Re: D4 Section Ammos

Sheez... you turn your back for a few days and all hell breaks loose!

Nice to see so much banter around here.

The train is approaching very fast and it looks like express through box hill this week. Have heard they have a chance against us and while i dont doubt it, it will be a tough match up. Can Box Hill dominate the air and hit targets all day. They will need to. The Saints have recruited a lad this week who should give us such much needed height and marking power up the forward line. 6 ft 4 " 100 kg. aka Shane Watson.
I am expecting a close and uncompromising affair with the winner likely to go a game clear on top depending on Eltham doing the right thing against the Uni boys.

Good luck to all players for saturday and dont forget that Saint Mary's are holding their past Captains & Coaches for a luncheon so there will be alot support for the saints which is 75 years old this year.
If you want to come down to see a real grass roots footy match this year come down and support the boys from Ferndale.

In Other games this week South Morny to smash North Brunswick
Uni will struggle to kick goals out at turtle park and will go down by 40+
Mt Lilydale to register their first win against Bulleen and get the ball rolling(will win between 7 - 10 games this year.)
Albert Park will be ignited by the one that got away last week and return in fine form against Richmond.
Finally the televised match of the round at HQ sees Eley Park take on the Sinners. Sinners for me in a good contest but not by much.

"Oh when the Saints"

Re: D4 Section Ammos

Keka, That train from the Saints is XPRESS through Box Hill. No contest. If wet may restrict scores but say Sainters by an easing up 9 goals.
Sth Mornington with a big win over Nth Brunswick, Eltham comfortably from UHS by 8 goals plus, Mt Lilydale with a well deserved 4 points from Bulleen, Albert Park to tame the Snakes by 30 points and Eley Park just a maybe against the Sinners.
Another 3 or 4 weeks and things will be taking shape. (other than the obvious 2)

Keka, has Watto trained at all? I wouldn't get too excited about recruiting him if I was you though, doubt he will play more than 4-5 matches for the season after his brief apparence at Ivanhoe last year. Committments with the dragons & a body that's falling apart may not see him even get that many games? but good luck to you if he can get up, will be good to see another quality footballer running around in D4..:thumbsu:

Re: D4 Section Ammos

What are the Saints like for height in general?

I know Box Hill has plenty of talls who are decent at ground level. Could this be a factor tommorow?

Re: D4 Section Ammos

dont any of you punk asses work....looks like the wooden spooners are battling it out this weekend...lol

Albert Park... still plenty of injuries? From what I hear they are missing a whole bunch.

We are missing a heap, at least 12 definite seniors and probably 24 across the club, not just injury but a heap unavialible for various reasons.

You should definitely underestimate us Waz we will really be struggling ; )

Re: D4 Section Ammos

:thumbsu: Thanks InFineForm mate, Hawthorn is a proud club boys and ED is a big inclusion this year...I still sus Spy1 = Ed Sill...Dan Penny will love it tomorrow with the bit of rain on the card...LOVE IT...
