Don't think main board is a stretch for this - Peter Daicos is arguably the second best footballer behind Gary Ablett to have had a son play AFL.

Ahhh, no.

I did say arguably.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_players_drafted_to_the_Australian_Football_League_under_the_father–son_rule

I went from this list of father-son selections (which I've just noticed is from 1986 onwards) so if there are others not there they haven't been considered.

Francis Bourke and Russell Ebert from that list are probably the only others with claims.

Not even close. Daicos is one of the most overrated club legends going around.

Considering Ted Whitten Jnr played 140 games and Paul Hudson played 240, sons of actual Legend status players in the HOF....

Then there's David Bourke and Jack Silvagni sons of TOC members.......

That was without even delving to far into it, there's plenty more.

It's debatable that Peter Hudson is better than Gary Ablett Snr also...

Like I said, I only went off the list at hand so I apologise for being a useless sack of shit.

I remember when the goals Daicos used to kick were highlights and amazing, Now better goals are kicked and people just move on to he next center bounce.
Sorry mate, you don't see many players running at full tilt slotting them from 50 from the boundry line, with the wrong foot.

Overrated my ass, if it wasn't for the injuries he'd comfortably the best player of all time, look up his stats pre injuries, mindblowing shit.

Yeh I think Pykie just displayed his absolute lack of knowledge of football matters with that comment

Hardly overrated, one of the best players i have ever seen

I'm not lacking any football knowledge, Collingwood supporters seem to rate him up there with Matthews, Carey, Ablett etc. which is ridiculous.

He was nothing of the sort, he was a gun player, but a club legend, not an AFL legend.

He will never be a legend in the AFL HOF.

I saw plenty of him.

The fact people are discussing Eddie Betts vs Daicos atm should tell you plenty about his standing.

Best player ever?

Haha.

people who have any kind of a problem with Peter Daicos just don't really like football; an absolute genius on the field who was just a heap of fun to watch, even when he was slotting impossible goals against your team.

good luck to his boy, hope he goes ok even though he'll be playing my mob ..

FWIW Peter Daicos is the best midfielder to have played for Collingwood since I've been watching footy and that's quite apart from being the best forward to have played for Collingwood in my time. He started in the centre and went forward due to need as much as anything. He stayed there because he was so good at it but he's also a B&F midfielder and that was after missing 2 years with feet stress fractures and a knee reco - and before kicking 97 goals in 1990.

The probability that his son will anywhere near the player Peter was is remote but I'll enjoy watching his regardless. I just hope he doesn't get canned for not being as good as his old man because frankly very few have been or will be. Imagine Eddie Betts kicking twice as many gaols and Gary Ablett Jnr as the same player.

Lol Eddie Betts, no offence but i would take Daicos any day of the week

and I never said he was the best player ever, He was a freak though and definitely one of the best i have seen

Injuries hurt his career a bit and if it wasnt for that he would be regarded as one of the best in my opinion, He was a gun mid before injuries and then he turned himself into a goal scoring freak

Yeh i am probably biased but i definitely rate him
