There is talk that Daniel wants to come home to SA, and he hast done a heap at GC and the Suns have plenty of talls ahead of him so they wouldnt mind him moving on. What would he be worth as far as a draft pick goes? Im thinking around early third round?

Hmmmm it's a good question. He was a pick 10 and first 2 years hampered by injuries. Has only played 15 games and anyone at 200cms does take time to develop.
Hinkley spent 2 years with him up close and would be a guide on his value. I'd be disappointed to get a 3rd round pick in return to be honest.

Yeah he is an interesting one. I think there is some doubt to wether he will kick on to be a really good player. Plenty of risk with him. Was having a look back at what other rucks on the outside of their clubs have been traded for and yeah third round was a bit cheap. I was thinking maybe 30-40?

gc wouldnt even use a 3rd round pick that would be later than their 3rd round. why would they use 5 draft picks (they have a compo pick). could on-trade a pick but they could just use their own 3rd round if they needed to.

i dont think they will get a good price for him either. an early to mid 2nd rounder (which is only my opinion). which would be unders for a kid with promise but if he does want back to SA and with his lack of any continuity form wise and health wise and out of contract thats how i see it.

im cooling on port going after him to be honest. suspect crows would be going fairly hard but without draft picks they would need to off-load a guy to victoria in a 3-way. ( no-one on crows list that would go to gc that would suit both parties). and a guy like mckernan has next to no value, certainly want get you the 2nd round pick nor a player that gc would want (or pick upgrade if thats what gc want).

Hasn't done enough to justify a first round pick, mid second round pick.

That'd be my guess.

Can any of the Suns fill us in on what his relationship to Hinkley was like?

2nd round pick at best...Weighing up his value to us we have Lobbe and Redden but Jacko was outstanding in ruck in the last quarter against the Crows maybe we can add him as well as a legitimate ruck option...I would like Gorringe on the list no problem with that but no need to pay overs the Suns can take our 2nd round pick or leave it.

He'd go for a first round pick, as he was one, he's only been in the system for 2 years.
Why the hell would people say "Yeah, 3rd round pick"...
Cale Hooker last year, people were saying, yeah he's worth a 4th rounder, St.Kilda offered us 2 second round picks, we said no.
KPP's and Rucks are worth their weight in gold, especially ones picked in the first round.

But we are covered for Rucks and our first pick is gold ...we can't go there..well not for Gorringe anyway ;-)...we'll move on at that price.

Sweet, we are gonna cash in with Tambling big time.

Hooker said no to going to West Coast, that's why that trade fell apart. Saints supporters everywhere are still grateful to him.

Hickey did?
Hickey was worth pick upgrades including Gold Coast's 2nd rounder to St Kilda's first gained from the Goddard free agency compensation, similar to the upgrade used to pick up Tom Lee. Different to being worth a first rounder.

Yeah, but what has he really done to justify being worth a first rounder so far? You've got to produce at that level, or you naturally lose that value.

Hickey did?

Played more decent/good games for GC than Gorringe has. One of his better games came agains the club that eventually picked him up, too.

Tonight was his best game by far while shouldering most of the ruck work.
Pros: He's 200cms, agile, kicks it well, wins clearances and has only played 14 games.
Cons: Needs to improve his marking and body work but that will come.

It would be disappointing to give him away for little return as I don't expect Zac Smith to return until mid year at best.
