2016 first round is an unknown quantity. Could be as high as pick 1 or as low as pick 18 (or worse if there's any compo/priority picks). They potentially do with the 2016 pick (though I think it will be pick 12-14) hence they should add that and a 2nd rounder.
Although, pick 5 is probably worth 2 mid-range first rounders.
I think because Geelong started their offer of nothing (compo pick 14 or let him walk into the draft) as their starting points, the Crows couldn't go any higher than satisfactory (2 first rounders or 1 first rounder + player, which turns out to be Murdoch) with their asking price.

Difference is other clubs may think twice about giving up an early pick for Dangerfield in the draft.
The PSD is a free hit, no opportunity to draft young talent, so more clubs would be ready to pick Dangerfield ahead of Geelong.
Don't know what would achieve the deal, but it could be a good move.
Correct.Murdoch is steak knives in a trade, he's played one good game in his whole career...
It is but it still has high value to on-trade (not sure if allowed) or at the very least we can make a decent guess as to how the Cats go.2016 first round is an unknown quantity. Could be as high as pick 1 or as low as pick 18 (or worse if there's any compo/priority picks).
I cannot imagine the club starting off so aggressively, but you're right. They should have! I always tend to have low expectations, so my expectation is we'll get a trade that satisfies fans at the bare minimum, which is 2 first rounders.Yes they could. That's how negotiation tactics work. Well they do when I'm dealing with unions. They say something ridiculous, you say something ridiculous. If you counter with something reasonable they'll want to meet in the middle and if you don't budge they start saying you're not willing to negotiate, won't compromise, inflexible, this isn't a good faith negotiation etc.
I hate playing that "game" but if you don't you get shafted.
We needed to counter with 3 first round picks or get stuffed. I hope we did.
Maybe even this years first, next years first, Murdoch and a second rounder. It sounds ludicrous but that's how this shit works.
Is that all? I'd trade 2 late first rounders for pick 5 in a heartbeat.According to the Father Son points table, Pick 5 is worth two Pick 19s
Pick 1 is worth two pick 9s
Also, Pick 9 = Pick 13 + Pick 50, so a pick upgrade of our first round pick is worth shit all

Can a player go in the PSD if he is drafted in the ND? Surely the AFL wouldn't allow that.
Naive or self absorbed? He is a good guy, but I think he is naïve if he thinks Crows fans will want to go fishing with him. We shouldn't personally insult him.
Players can choose to only nominate for the PSD.Can a player go in the PSD if he is drafted in the ND? Surely the AFL wouldn't allow that.
He signed a 3 year deal mid year, bought a house in Geelong and got engaged to his girlfriend in Feb, would be unlikely to want to move but he's one of few that majority of Geelong Supporters don't rate overly highly, doesn't rack up possessions and his ball use leaves alot to be desired.I know a lot of people have been hot on Murdoch as the player to be traded to us if such a deal should eventuate, but the thing is both the club and the supporters are happy to trade him. Why is that? Why would both a club and their supporters be happy to trade someone out? It's because they don't rate him and they'd know a lot more about him than any of us would. I still think Gregson should be the guy thrown into the deal.
What?

Nothing out of the club has said Murddoch will be involved in a trade for Dangerfield, that's just a rumour started on BigFooty which extends to pretty much every SA player on our list...
Can't see Geelong letting Gregson go after investing 20 games into him, especially when he fills a need in the forward line.
Says alot about Adelaide Fans being unrealistic, that's about it.. Not going to trade away arguably our most promising young player in the middle of a rebuild. But that then begs the question, are Geelong serious about trading for Dangerfield, or do they expect us to get shafted in the deal with you guys only giving up peanuts? If you can't give up Gregson for Dangerfield, that says a lot about your club's attitude to play ball.
Why? ......i expect Geelong to be out of the 8 next year .....2 years of # 9 picksWe are never getting that. Completely unrealistic
BTW thanks for your supportWe are never getting that. Completely unrealistic
Well hand over your picks then.Says alot about Adelaide Fans being unrealistic, that's about it.. Not going to trade away arguably our most promising young player in the middle of a rebuild.
