Our first round pick will be enough. Brisbane will get only get compensation
pick at the end of the first round from the AFL if Rich does goto GWS.

Voss loves Swift, straight swap for Rich 2 easy
if voss made that trade he definately wouldnt be coaching for much longer, and shouldnt deserve to be.he could however move to a monastary in thailand to contemplate his brief coaching career and the 4 or 5 trades that broke him

Hell NO....

So if theose 2 bolded players dont play Who do you think will be our CHB and 3rd defencive tall ???? Mitch Brown and ????

Look I am a huge Rich fan and would love him at WCE in 2012. However for this to happen sooooooooooo many thing have to happen.

1st) We need a player(s) and DP of value to get Brisbane interested.
2nd) We need those players to actually want to go to Brisbane.
3rd) We need to out offer GWS or even match their offer.
4th) Brisbane need to still have Salary cap problems. (with Fev and a few other out I doubt they will)

So we need all of these to happen before we can get Rich, Yep wont happen.:(

Players who brisbane could possibly Retire/Release/Trade to free up room:
1) Fevola- Delist
2) S.Black- Retire
3) J.Charman- Retire
4) A.McGrath- Trade/Delist
5) J.Patfull- Trade
6) A.Raines-Delist
7) X.Clarke- Delist/Trade

The top 3 alone would give them enough to re-secure Daniel for another 3 years.

As of Tradeable players. I would say experiance would be the only thing that would get the deal done.

1) D.Kerr (% of his salary still on us) + 1st round pick.
2) Cox (% of salary) + 1st rnd pik
3) S.Butler + M.Brown plus 2nd Rnd pick

The only way we would get the deal done IMHO.
They already have a surplus of Young mids in:
Polec
Bewick
Banfield
Patfull
Polky
Raines
Redden
Sheldon.

And would get a couple more next year in the draft.

If Rich was just after money sure he'd either go to GWS or stay at the Lions as they have very few players demanding top dollars next year, Fev gone, Black / Power retired and yes a few more delisted.

But Rich will see the writting on the wall, Lions are heading for a 3 > 4 year rebuild and it will take the same time for GWS to become competitive and make finals.

In WA he has two clubs who will be in finals contension in 2012 onwards, playing at home and will get decent coin to make the move. It won't be up to the Lions to dictate to Rich rather what they can best get out of a bad situation.

Also they have Mitch Clarke to worry about as well. IMO GWS will chase Clarke harder than they will Rich. Clarke is an established 200cm ruck / forward and worth more than Rich. Luckily for us Freo are also very keen on Clarke as well and again a ruck / forward is more important to Freo than another mid.

I think a Swift, Stevens or Ebert plus a 2nd rounder would get the deal done. A better deal than an end of 1st round AFL compensation pick and better than what Freo could offer.

I'd prefer a Rosa plus a 2nd rounder but could live with either Swift or Ebert getting traded.

Mitch Brown straight swap could be an option, he wants to play forward and J Brown isn't getting any younger and if the Lions lose Clarke then Lynch could be handy 'set of steak knives' especially if his form comes back.

You make it sound impossible.

i think i have seen mitch brown say he wants to play in the backline.Thats where he thinks he is best suited

When is free agency due? A mate who used to play fom Swannies tells me his mate who is close to Yarren visited him in Melbourne in December and Yarren said he has become really home sick and is going to chase a trade when his contract expires. Hopefully hes better mates with Walters than NicNat :p

But in any case could be a couple of options to spend trade currency on there.

Heck, why don't we just take Walters off your hands and they can all hang out like old times.;)

You already have Ballantyne so you don't need a nother small forward.:D

Walters in the pocket, Jetta on one wing and Sheppard on the other, Strijk on one HFF and Le Cras on the other.

Sounds pretty good to me.

Mmmm Rich Jetta and Yarran..Hopefully they will be our Stenglein/Chick top up players that push us toward flag contention

Ha Ha, you beat me to it Obeanie.:D I mean, McGinnity for Walters should about do it, I reckon.;)

Disclaimer: I only used McGinnity's name because most on here think he's crap....

We won't go hard after them, if they fall our way then its all good but to think we would have Staff drawing up devious plans to snag these guys is a bit delusional.
Why? It's no secret that clubs get in the ear bigtime of desired players they think they might have a chance of luring over, offering them more money, the chance to play in their home state, etc etc.

You are straddling the line between pessimism and downright delusion

The concept of getting all three is pretty stupid. Wouldn't class Yarran or Jetta anywhere near Rich.

Whats odd is that Yarran is easily the most talented of the 3 but like many indigenous players we only see a portion of that talent and only in an odd game or 2, whilst Jetta is probably the type of player that WC needs most, but in all likelihood Rich is the one they would chase first.

Given the likelihood that WC will finish with a selection inside the top 12, this selection alone would be more than enough for Jetta and Yarran and probably Rich as well as much as Brisbane would complain.

Realistically any player determined to return home - and in this case to a state with only 2 clubs - leaves his club with little room to manoevre.

The plans are nothing more devious than talking with their managers and family about a return home. I can advise its already under way with at least one of the above mentioned 3.

Does his name start with "C" and end with "hris Yarran"?

Well Stealing from Carlton..I am all for that. But they will want Naita, LeCras and Kennedy back for the deal knowing them bastardos.

True. But in this case, unlike the Jud scenario, we can tell them to take a running jump at themselves if they make such ludicrous demands !

Yeah well Notte is gone, Masten turned out to be Vanilla and Kennedy although good hasn't risen to the stellar heights we all expected. Judd having won another Brownlow and Best and Fairest shows perhaps we did get screwed in that deal and those mongrels owe us back now :D

Trade Chris Yarran for Rosa and an early pick for me.

I actually suspect he was talking about Jetta. Can't remember who, but one of our 'inside knowledge' guys on here mentioned somewhat cryptically a couple of months back that we were going after Lewis pretty hard.

Well considering Yarran doesn't come out of contract untill the end of 2012 and both Rich and Jetta are out of contract in 10 months ;) we are obviously talking to both their managers.:thumbsu:

The most likely trade to succeed is Jetta as he has a lower profile, GWS wouldn't be as interested as they would be in Rich, he would cost less and using the homesick angle is a lot more believable / likely.

Rich will be chased hard by GWS but so will Mitch Clarke from the Lions as well, IMO GWS would be more keen on Clarke than Rich and Freo would also be chasing Clarke pretty hard as well.

At least there are some decent ex WA lads coming out of contract who fit our needs this trade period, the last trade period was light on for WA talent.
