Would've like to get Cameron but gotta move on.
Pies extremely starved for pics in the coming draft.

Currently: (not including any PP's, FS, academy)

We just need points for an academy player and then a FS.
I suspect we will trade a 2026 (supposed to be a better draft) 2nd round pick for a couple of picks in 2025 to match them.

To be fair, what about for example, when you guys pushed Treloar out - doesn't it go both ways?
He still got paid 100% of his contract and the Pies have just made their final $300,000 contribution to it.

Look, normally I'd agree but our ruck stocks are horrendous and we need someone capable of actually playing the position to a decent standard to start working back to being competitive again.

If it's 2-3 years of footy out of Cameron while we look for a younger guy then so be it - won't be the first time a club has taken on an older ruck to fill the role for a few years.
People just look at the fact he will be 30 next season, but he is in the leadership group at Collingwood. Very highly thought of, on and off the track. I think Eagle fans underestimate the importance of having good leaders among a young group.

He would have been a great get and worth every $ to the Eagles. I'd say the Eagles should have gone harder, but I'm sure his priority was always to stay at Collingwood.

Sorry my comments were replying to someone else mentioning that players should just stick to their contracts. I was just pointing out that it goes both ways.

Not having a crack at the Pies - many clubs do this.
Meanwhile my club has the exact opposite issue when dealing with players....

Oh don't get me wrong - he would have been a quality addition.

It was more a response to Cameron being lumped in as 'any 30 year old', when in reality, WCEs list needs experience in some key areas of the ground - especially the middle.

Isn't this exactly the player WCE need? I don't understand why they wouldn't be throwing the kitchen sink at him.
He'll be 31 in July next season. Not someone we should be 'throwing the sink at' in our current situation.

Seems like he got the payday he wanted from the Pies.

I would have liked him but only because we had the picks and salary cap to make it happen without negatively impacting our future.

Not sure if I understand the logic. You must have oodles of salary cap, and I'm not aware of any young promising ruckman you've got hidden away. Yes, you can typically pick up a journeyman for a song, but Cameron is better than journeyman and would have made a significant impact. Bloody hard to develop young midfielders when your ruckman gets towelled up every week.

He'd be a good addition, no doubt. I'd be more concerned about the draft capital it'd have cost us.

Just want someone younger moreso.

Im more or less thinking if we are happy for someone Darcy Camerons age we might give Ivan Soldo a call. Otherwise id prefer someone younger and the oodles of salary cap room be used for Ned Reeves, Ned Moyle or Nicholas Madden

If he was 5 years younger he would have suited West Coast more. He would have been just helping to develop a list until he retires. West Coast could be playing finals within 3 to 5 years but by then he would probably be pushed out for a younger ruckman. Made no sense a guy that age wanting to go there.
