This young man has been on our list for a while now and hasnt done much. Is 2005 his year? i believe that he has to show a lot more if he is to be retained on the list. What do you all think?

Not a fan of getting rid of someone after barely two years at the club, these are the ones that comes back and bite the club in the ass (Take Mcphee and Haynes for example, Freo got rid of Mcphee after two years, ditto Haynes, and look how good Mcphee's become and Haynes showing a bit)

Particularly when someone like Henneman's been given forever, yet he continues to screw up, Walsh hasn't done much wrong but having a nasty glandular fever, and he's gonna be dumped?

I hope to god the club gives him another chance, he looks to be a late developer to me but obviously has talent. Waaay to light frame though, will count against him come delisting time, but at least I hope no club picks him up and we can re-rookie him.

If we get guys who are really skinny I think we should be patient, particularly we used a decent draft pick on the guy. I have never seen him play but heard he is very quick. Also we were looking strongly at Anthony Corrie i heard but bypassed him for Walsh - would hate to see us get ripped by Brisbane. Who has seen him play, can he read the play, does he really go hard for it, can he kick?

You're not judging him on this year's VFL form alone, are ya?

I'm judging him on what I've seen over the last three years (including one in the under 18's).

Apart from one solid mark against the Bulldogs on debut in 2003, his unwillingness to win his own ball must change if he is going to make.

He does tackle a lot, which a lot of young kids don't do. But this has a lot to do with his opponent leading him to the ball more times than not.

Mind you, with his size, he really can't win much hard balls.

It's not so much about winning hard balls. I understand that you can't have 18 blokes on the field who win the hard ball (ie the whole Justin Murphy debate).

But Walsh just doesn't seem to have the willingness to put his body on the line and contest when required. Not everyone has be Jason Johnson but sometimes you are just have to go in and get it. Jason Winderlich isn't any big and he has done it at the highest level, Darren Walsh won't.

There were a couple of impressive passages of play in his first match where he was prepared to go for a bit of run which is'nt done often by first gamers, worth giving another year at least
