Just heard this too, there has been talk most the week. I might head down to the club after work to see if they need me to step up.

We can't take a trick but I guess many on here will be happy he's out.

Full article (mainly for Nicho news!)

MELBOURNE midfielder Aaron Davey will see a knee specialist tomorrow and will not play for at least two weeks.

The speedy Demon pulled up sore after his side's 20-point loss to St Kilda last weekend.

A suspected slight cartilage tear is expected to be confirmed after scans tomorrow, with a the likelihood of a ''clean-up'' arthroscope to follow.

But Melbourne fans will welcome a new running player, after 20-year-old Daniel Nicholson was activated off the rookie list and brought straight into the side to meet Carlton at the MCG tomorrow night.

Nicholson was picked up in the last rookie draft after being a dominant player for two season with VAFA club University Blues.

''His form in the VFL, starting at half-back and coming through the middle of the ground has been excellent. he's developed significantly in the past four or five weeks where his form has just got better and better each week," coach Dean Bailey said today.

''Developing him in a couple of roles has probably seen his flexibility grow.

''He's a very determined young man. He's like a mature age rookie more than an 18-year-old recruit.''

Could be worse. At least it's not another in-form player going down.

Looks pretty pathetic IMO. Do you think it was his knee that stopped him going back with the flight last week?

This part i agree with. He'd know he did the wrong thing though. We need him in the side IMO, but as has been pointed out no great loss atm. Bratram out is a way bigger loss to us

you could see during the game he was injured and then of course you have all the media numb nuts saying he's not contributing enough - blimey give a champ a break!

As long as he comes back through the VFL.

good call aguado.

our injury list

Rohan Bail (knee) - 5 weeks
Colin Garland (ankle) - 5-6 weeks
Jack Grimes (foot) - season
Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) - 6-8 weeks
Mark Jamar (knee) - 3-5 weeks
Tom Scully (knee) - test
Jake Spencer (knee) - season
Luke Tapscott (hamstring) - 3 weeks
Austin Woneaemirri (knee) - test
Aaron Davey (knee) - 2 weeks.

Has anyone ever thought why we have so many top players with injuries? is it our facilities? training regime? or just plain back luck?

It's that Bubonicplagueasic guy- can't remember his name... Supermerc knows who I mean!

If you go through the list though there's only one soft tissue injury, the rest are PCLs and ankles, stuff that's just bad luck. Maybe some of our fitness staff could assess whether our guys have bad running or falling/landing techniqies, but I'm sure they have already....

I think serious questions have to be at least asked why? Have we pushed Jamar too hard over the last year or so? Did we handle Scully's knee correctly since being drafted? Bail/Davey/Wona/Spencer/Jamar all have knee related injuries. Why is this occurring? I'm not sure we can blame the fitness staff for Grimes and Garland's injuries though. Although, coincidentally, both had the same serious foot injury.

Maybe it's time we spent more on our fitness department. It seems to be the most important part of our game now. Why can't we send our team over to Arizona? Why can't we spend a bit more on extra fitness staff? We have to keep up with the Collingwoods if we are to turn the talented list into a successful team!

Does anyone else get the feeling that all these injuries could save Bailey's job as coach? The thought of it makes me cringe but I can just see our FD blaming a poor season on our bad run with injuries and giving Bailey another 2 years.

I'm not saying injuries haven't played a part in our poor form but Bailey himself has contributed far more to it than anything else.

It's actually getting quite funny now. Oh well, not a lot we can do.

Is anyone else concerned that we have played 2 players on the ground a lot longer than they should have and now both have serious injuries?

Can the club do anything right?

The Brock McLean/Jordie Gysberts trade?

Yeah... So what?
Are you sad that we traded the Hobo Johnstone out for (effectively) Jack Grimes coz Travs career was ruined as well?
I'm not.
Having no heart is a bit different to playing a player who clearly couldn't walk who hasn't been the same since.

Not worried about McLean just worried about the fact they haven't learned from what they done to McLean by continuing to leave clearly injured players in Davey and Garland on the ground for long periods of time.
