Yes am not surprised at the box office numbers either. Too many iffy moments for DC over the years has significantly impacted their reputation and brand. Movie goes are hesitant whether to see it or wait for streaming. Plus this is so unique a film whereby its led by such a problematic actor that couldn't even be involved in the press tour (compare to how well The Rock markets his brand and films, he's out there non stop campaigning for his product). And Keaton is supposedly tied up filming and wasn't able to do any press - he would've generated quite the buzz with audiences of a similar age to me.
And lastly, a quick glance at the last 4-6 weeks of films shows how packed and competitive the schedule is. So many delays and postponements from Covid and so on, led to a bit of a log jam in films this year. There's been some "big" movies lately. Guardians 3, Super Mario Brothers, Transformers, Little Mermaid, Fast 5000, Across The SpiderVerse, I'm sure I am missing some as well. Box office numbers are strong and plenty of people are going out to see movies - however its spread across a number of films and with everything increasing in price lately, people tend to not see everything on offer and instead wait for it to come out on streaming (which in some cases happens within a month or two anyway).
Plus all the talk shows are off the air due to the writers strike. The only person I saw do any press was Sasha Calle.
Yes she was very good too. I saw a few clips of her on entertainment tonight etc reflecting on that announcement video or her being cast from a few years ago. She knows her comics too, and am hoping she gets another crack in the Supergirl film in the Gunn/Safran universe.

They should have just held off the announcement of the new slate until all the existing films were out.I honestly think Gunn is doing a full reboot but just cant say it to try and salvage any box office earnings they can. I doubt we see any of these actors again.
Last week he said Blue Beetle is the first new character of the new DCU but called Superman Legacy the first production. If Blue Beetle flops I doubt we see him again. Then they just have to get through the Aquaman 2 problem, he will prob be relieved when its all done and he can be honest.

I did read this really enjoyed it and an interesting insight into how production changes can completely change (or destroy) a film. This is well worth a read from THR. I'll put the link in the spoiler tags as even the article preview would give away too much to those who haven't seen it yet. Ry009 phantom13 might appreciate this as well. Can't help but read through the other endings with a tinge of frustration/sadness, of what could have been. Which is the quintessential question when it comes to the DCEU itself. What could have been.

The problem is there’s apparently another season of Peacemaker in the works which is obviously pretty heavily tied to the DCEU too.Cheers glenferry23. Hopefully we see all different endings on Blu-ray release as extras one day.
Gutted Cavill was boned, but can understand decision made in the grand scheme of things. So as filthy as I am, Gunn deserves a chance to put something out.
All goes out the window though if he cherry picks his own content to make the final cut. Can live with Waller staying around as it's hard to find someone better for the role than her.

There was an article about the failed batgirl movie that was a good read too.
It was reported that Afleck filmed a scene for Aquaman 2 which has now been apparently cut. The reports from test screenings arent great either.

Was the final act a revised storyline or is it only the cameo at the end that they changed?
The whole villain "plot twist" being the multiverse Flash was severely underwhelming
I think the ending change is the most obvious. In addition though there’s probably a host of changes across the film that has occurred through all of the delays and various leadership changes and so on.
I’ve got no doubt that Thawne would’ve featured if this wasn’t going to be a reboot. There was surely an answer to the question of who killed Nora, it was largely glossed over in the final cut. Something about a robber who though no one would be home etc.
Killing off Keaton’s Batman was probably another reason why they canned Batgirl. He was meant to be the new Batman for a few films in the Batman Beyond style role. Including a solo film for him. Probably the same reason they killed off Supergirl too.
I much prefer to have Thawne as the villain over Dark Flash.
Should have rammed through a direct sequel to JL to follow AM2 tying up the DCEU. Might have cost some money but would have kept people invested in the current films before the reboot and given Snyderverse lovers a conclusion. It’s not going to happen I know but would still like to see Batgirl. Not just for Keaton, however with Brendan Fraser as well it surely can’t be as bad as suggested. Makes me want to see it even more so considering
Yep it wouldn’t make sense for Affleck’s scenes to be included in Aquaman 2. Especially with the post credits scene. Think they’ve botched the sequence of these films really, the Aquaman sequel should’ve been released as planned last year.
I doubt the other endings will see the light of day - they’d probably just be accused of teasing/promising the fans something that we’re never going to see more of down the track. As good as it would be to see them, they’re better off not doing anything. Already there’s the unrealised potential of what the Snyder cut set up.
I maintain the scene of the League starting at Darkseid and his Apokolips army through that boom tube is one of the greatest images I’ve seen in superhero movies. It was glorious. But nothing further will come of it and it’s pretty ****ed up.
Totally agree re: Viola Davis. She’s a powerhouse. Deserves to continue, they ain’t finding anyone better equipped for the role than her.
DC would certainly be nervous for their next two releases.
Will never know the answer for sure now, however I wonder how much The Flash, Shazam 2 and Aquaman 2 (which remains to be seen) would’ve made if they were released last year as planned. Prior to the Gunn/Safran announcements.
Reckon Aquaman and Jason Momoa have a bit more goodwill than Justice League and Ezra Miller. If any of the films have a chance of making a buck, it’s this.Would they? Not just the decision to reset everything but publically announce it screams 'write off' to me. I don't think good word of mouth was ever going to push it to reasonable numbers.
Would have thought it's a foregone conclusion that Aquaman and Blue Beetle wont do a hell of a lot better.
