Seems similar to the early press releases put out this time last year re: Ibbotson.

However, I like what I see/read here, seems much more suited to this role than any other player currently on our list, with Lower the possible exception.
In fact, it would be nice to see these two rotated as inside mids.

De Boer spent the majority of his under 18s time in this position and if I recall correctly was recognised with AA selection for his efforts.

Pav a forward and De Boer an inside mid, I like what I'm hearing so far this pre-season. Let's hope it's not all talk....

I remember a game in 2010 where DeBoer lined up in the centre bounce and won the first 2 clearances of the game then mysteriously didn't line up there again. He's a wrecking ball in there and great with his hands. Bring it on I say.

Oddly enough I was thinking about that today after talking about Lower playing inside, but thought he plays a good defensive mid role to be wasted in and under - but *shrugs* he's got the same tenacity and tendency to go in balls deep so it does suit him

Brilliant, it is the perfect role for him - he was a ball magnet inside mid before being drafted. He also knows his limitations kicking-wise and plays within them, so no issues there. His handballs have always been top class and he's a serious battering ram - not sure about Lenny Hayes level, but he could definitely emulate Ball and Boyd given time in the role.

Wonder what will happen with Ibbo considering he wanted to step up into that role last year before injuring his ankle? Just a defender?

Anyway it's like a new lease of life for players who were pigeon-holed under Harves, Lyon sees things in a more straight-forward way.

And if you're winning the footy yourself, you don't need as many midfield negators on the park - Crowley might be the only one.

WOW - probably one of the best articles I've read in the past 2 years, he seems to be very honest and precise in what he says.

He's taking ownership and detailing what he needs to do without the usual fluff answer, from rookie rat to the resident hard man of the team within 2 years - not bad.

I think he has potential to be the next leader at the club, looks to be respected by his team mates and his on field actions speak for themselves as he knows his strengths and limitations

Lyon is gunna mould de boer into a poor -mans Lenny Hayes..

Given the way De Boer kicks the ball, I'd say more like another version of Luke Ball ... which doesn't bode well for him staying on our list long term. :o

But seriously, I love DeBoer and certainly capable of being part of a midfield setup if other players around him are the right types.

This comes to mind when I think of Sandi and Neale on the field

Incidentally if you're ever googling trying to find this picture - don't search for 'giant man and midget'. It doesn't end well

Remember when Andrew Swallow was drafted there was concern over his disposal by foot, just like de Boer? It took Swallow a few years to establish himself and find his best role at Norf - he was dropped a few times and had to fight his way back into the 22. Now he has a B&F and a r/u B&F to his name and what club wouldn't want an Andrew Swallow in their team? De Boer is our version of Andrew Swallow, and IMO he will be every bit as good, if not better than him within the next couple of years.

Love, love, love MdB!!!

Looking forward to this. He and lower will be formidable.

Also, he has very nice eye teeth.
