4 responses so far from reasonably intelligent posters split 2 each on players where there is a history for all to see.

That's why drafting of 17yr olds is such a difficult process and why many recruiters are now far more willing to give up an unknown (pick) for a known (player) especially beyond 1st rounds.

What happened to Rich? Is it because he's getting tagged too easily with Black being out? It's not as if Brisbane doesn't have a good array of inside mids to take the pressure off him...

I still reckon he'd be amazing to have in the side - it'd be like having an extra Hurn on the field

I dunno, Brown could be quite a good CHB in my opinion.

Needs an extended run of AFL games and NO INJURIES for once, and he'll be right.

Wouldn't want to lose Brown for anything less than a first round pick.
That's why we are playing him more. We give him the games so he stays or he gets games, shows he's a decent KP backman and interest and his price goes up.

Injuries to MacKenzie, Schofield and Glass to a lessor extent have helped him get a game but he's been better than just serviceable and held Schofield out when he was fit.

If our season looks over he will play every week. Good to see Wilson stay in as well, with Hurn injured Blayne may get another game next week as well.:thumbsu:

When Glass retires do we expect Schofield to become the second key tall? Who then takes his position as third tall?

Brown is clearly a required player in our succession planning IMO.
McInnes CHB and Schofield plays his current role.

Blayne Wilson is the same height as Darling looking at them both standing together which is a nice height for the third tall. He looks like he can play on taller opponents as well.

Brown has a pretty average game last night, not in relation to the goals against him, but those couple of marks he dropped just really weren't great.

I do like that he is not kicking it although he needs to be a bit quicker with them.

Wouldn't mind trading Mitch brown to GWS for pick 10.
Having two first rounders would allow us to pick up a Gartlett Marsh combo
Then in second round go for Acres and hopefully pick up a Robertson next pick.
That pick 40 we have did we nominate to use it this year ?

Well this is the last year we can use it.

You really think Robertson is likely to slide that far?

No chance we'll get pick 10 for Brown. 22 from the Saints perhaps.

Sure. But why pick 10? Since we are being ridiculous, I wouldn't mind trading Mitch brown to gws for pick 1.

I have us coming 10th with 10 wins. Would give us pick 9 (effectively pick 8th with mcdonald to norf). Hopefully we can end up above Adelaide also seeing as though they wont have the first two picks (right?)

I'm not sure any of the WA boys will be taken before pick 9, regardless there should be some decent talent around for this pick (WA or not).

I'm a fan of Rich's, and I think he'd be an excellent acquisition for WC. Rich is someone who needs to be tagged hard, or he carves up. Adding someone like that makes for one more of WC's midfielders that need to be tagged, along with Shuey and Gaff. Are opposition sides going to be able to tag all 3 of those guys? Not IMO. At the very least, one, if not two, are going to get off the hook and chop the opposition. Having numerous midfielders that need to be tagged or else they'll chop is what WC had in 06. Someone always got left out and did damage. If Shuey gets the tag, Gaff and Rich have an easier time of it, and vice versa.

Rich, Selwood, Gaff, Masten, Shuey, Wellingham would be a very strong group. Add Cripps, Sheppard and Rosa as additional rotations plus a Sheed, Acres or Robertson (Is it possible for all three) and we'd be on track.

Well to get rich we'd have to give up draft picks, so no chance.

Ignoring rich I think sheed will be around for our first pick. Robertson is harder to judge considering he is missing champs, but could be available for 2nd round. I think all three would be a stretch. Acres 2nd rounder also I think.
