Make that elite running ability.
Ranked no.1 at 2007 Draft Camp for aerobic ability.
Had something like 15.2 Beep Test.

Ebert and Dalziell are endurance gods (more so Dalziell).

Not really the same thing as outside pace is it. :p

So with the best team being as below how can Cripps or Morton break into it let alone Hill or Dick ?

Butler - Glass - McKenzie
Hurn - Schofield - Waters
Gaff - Priddis - Brennan
Darling - Kennedy - Wellingham
LeCras - Cox - Nicosky

R-Naitanui
F-Kerr
F- Shuey

Bench
Selwood
Embley
Masten
Sheppard-S

Those in red are under the most presure to hold their spots IMO, Le Cras and Waters won't play 22 games as won't Butler.

Other injuries will happen.

The great thing is the quality of who's not there. A Selwood, Rosa, McGinnity, Hill, Lycett, Brown, Cripps, Morton, Dick and Hams are all very capable of coming in and winning their position.

PS Scooter will not start on the bench........ever.

Again with this Koby Stevens mentality. Yeh he might be good but i doubt people are really underrating him. He isnt in our best 22 at the moment but with some good work and effort he can push and be a valuable contributor for the years ahead. I think thats what most people believe. Not every 'talented' 20-21 year old player can demand a walk up start when playing against guys who have been in the system for 5-10 years unless they want to play at a 'developing' club. Good luck to Koby Stevens at the shithole he entered.

Got anything relavent to say?

Cripps fills a need more than Koby did and will thrive on the big open grounds in the WAFL.

I would be shocked if all three didn't.

Wellingham will play every game.

Morton will play...um...I want to say 8 to 10.

Cripps will play a handfull, maybe 4.

Thems my predictions.

I'd switch those. Cripps fills far more of a need than Morton as he brings pace and the ability to finish to the team, plus he has performed better than Morton in the last 12 months.

Maybe it's harsh on Morton saying he'll only play a couple of games, but I'd think Cripps will play half the season.

How does Cripps fill more of a need? Cripps has been playing nearly all his footy for the Saints as a half forward, a position we are well stocked in. Morton adds midfield depth, something that we are somewhat light on for IMO.

I see Cripps playing in the middle for us and being better than Morton. I can't quite see Morton instantly becoming what people thought he would when drafted.

He doesn't need to become a star instantly, he just needs to play a role.

Morton is much more proven at the highest level than Cripps and has more runs on his side. I'm expecting him to be a very handy depth mid this season. Cripps...I think he'll continue developing in 2013 and probably come into the side a bit later on.

I can't see Morton playing through a centre square rotations.

Cripps had good speed, provides excellent run and carry. He can play HBF, HFF, Wing or Midfield, it's the lack of versatility that stopped Koby from getting a game.

How many Midfielders do we have that are competent and attacking half forwards when played forward? Shuey, Masten, LeCras*, Wellingham.

When I say midfield, I don't necessarily mean centre square rotation. Was hinting more at an outside role on the wing and rotating onto a flank.

I'm not questioning that Cripps may be a handy player for the club, I just think Morton will have a bigger impact than Jamie in 2013.

I knew that would be a fun question.

Two pages of light hearted healthy discussion, and nary a semantics debate in sight. It's what preseason is all about.

FWIW I reckon Dalziell deserves more time in the side than all three of Morton, Cripps and Hutchings put together.

That's a dubious statement and I think you'll find most people on this board won't agree. Cripps' form in 2012 was much better. He was pretty much a regular while Morton was dropped after a series of bad performances. Morton's good form was from 3 years ago. It remains to be seen whether he can ever recapture that form and the AFL is very much a 'what have you done for me lately' league.
