COCA-COLA has been forced to can a TV ad that authorities say suggests women should be available for sex whenever men want it.

The Advertising Standards Bureau found the advertisement, though light-hearted, was inappropriate to be on TV when children were watching.

How do they figure that this ad promotes male promiscuity any more than it does female promiscuity? If you think about it, there are a half-dozen promiscuous-lookin' females in that clip as opposed to just the one promiscuity-seekin' guy. I'm no mathematician but I'm pretty sure that equates to a net balance of female promiscuity promoted in that ad.

Anyhow, did this ad deserve a banning?

What a ****ing joke. Seriously. Who are the people who complain about this stuff? Why are they not required to be accountable for their never ending, narrow minded complaining?

I couldn't give a f*ck to be brutally honest.

No and when it comes to political correctness, the world is being taken over by it and it needs to stop. The bra burning faction, the greenies, the PC'ers, something needs to be done...

You ask any female and they would say there is nothing wrong with this ad, so why is the current diet coke a dirty and sleazy one that had to be taken off? bloody hypocrites the lot of them, and they wonder why they dont get the same preferential treatment the guys get in everyday life.

The conceit of the ad is to complicated

I didn't actually but I'm a little concerned that you still remember it after all these years.

I don't remember that one

But all this morning I've had the theme song to Gogo My Walking Pup stuck in my head. Haven't seen that ad in literally 15 years so I don't know what it's still doing in my head :(

That's not me btw. I never bought one. Seriously.

I'm walkin' Gogo down the street
She wags her tail at the friends we meet
I walk her forwards and backwards too
Gogo my walking pup, I love you!
I'm walkin' Gogo...

Was thinking the same thing, what a joke, always the way tho. Blokes can be subjeted to a sex object by females and who cares...blokes don't. As soon as a female is in a bikini or something skimpy all hell breaks lose and it;s like every bloke is gona go out there and rape women...most blokes have enough intelligence to think for themselves! despite what the women group thinks!

Coca Cola has been extremely clever with their marketing of late. They have differentiated themselves so that Coke Zero is for blokes and Diet Coke is for women. Thats pretty ****en smart if you ask me. :thumbsu:

Because when men see another guy that chicks feel horny for, that man garners respect.

When women see another chick that guys think is hot, that chick garners jealousy.

It's not the sole reason, but let's be honest, women care about each other's looks far more than men do, and my previous sentence is a very common observation. The observation then gets twisted around and sexual objectification gets used as the justification for the ad's ban.

What if the makers of the ad were female...
