Did you know... Jack Ziebell cannot be killed by conventional weapons.
No doubt a young orphan street girl will steal his heart and turn him to a life of vegan introspection and astral self exploration then.

Ruckmen were more dominant around the ground in that era. The top dozen in the voting were mostly ruckmen and key defenders; Matthews and Bartlett were really the only "midfielders" among them. And Teasdale was more spectacular than most, that year at least.

In that year, Collingwood made the GF (and drew) - their top disposal winner was Ronnie Wearmouth who averaged 17 per game. North, who won the flag, played more games than any side ever in a single season, and their leading goal-kicker kicked 42.

(I remember reading this one somewhere so take it with a grain of salt...)

Brent Harvey has played 294 games since the 1999 Grand Final.
This is an all-time record for games played since a player's last premiership.

Robert Harvey from St Kilda at 383 games would have the record for games played without a premiership.

Simon Madden (377) and Justin Madden (332) are the only brothers to play more than 300 VFL/AFL Games.

Mick Malthouse in 2010 was the oldest premiership winning coach in AFL OR VFL history.

Reading about Libba in the other thread made me think of something to add on here.

Tony liberatore played against both Gary Ablett snr and jnr

So Ablett jnr now has played against tony liberatore as well as Tom liberatore

How's that for a couple of father son match ups :)

Ok so I just thought of the most interesting tidbit of trivia.

At Carlton the coach is called Mick and the captain Marc.
At Collingwood it's Nathan and Nick
and at Essendon it is James and Jobe.

Wow, that is amazing

Sydney: John and Jarrad (co-captain)
Gold Coast: Guy and Gary

Most people know the saints famously won their only gf by a single point. Less known is that from the inception of the VFL they only won 2 games in the first 6 seasons (1897-1902). And in what was regarded as just as miraculous an event at the time, their first ever win in game one of their 4th season was ALSO just by a single point over Melb (68-67).

Unfortunately a player by the name of Ted Hall who played for Saint Kilda in those same 6 years, missed that game. Because of that, he would have to wait for the Saints 2nd ever win in 1901 before ever playing in a winning game. He still holds the record for playing the most consecutive games in a loosing side (62) and his career games record is 1 win - 72 losses.

Obviously that's wild loosing run that wont happen again. In the post war period (starting the run in 1945) the longest loosing streak for an individual player was John Kennedy (Hawthorn, ret. 1959) who played in 20 consecutive losses. That was beaten by Adam Tomlinson (GWS) who this year played in his 21st consecutive loss when GWS lost to Collingwood in round 18. He broke the run the following week when the GWS beat Melbourne for their only win of the season.

Warwick Armstrong played 16 games for South Melbourne, including the 1899 Grand Final against Fitzroy where he lined up in a back pocket and South lost by a point.

21 years later, at the age of 41 and weighing 133kg, he was appointed captain of the Australian cricket team and scored three centuries on the way to a 5-0 whitewash of the Poms.

Don't know if its been posted. Geelong supporters will confirm this.

In geelongs 3 recent grand final wins they've only had one goal scored against them in last quarters. Im sure it was 07 and one of the Burgoynes kicked it.

The club currently recognized as the Brisbane Lions (BBFFC) holds the unique distinction of being the only club to finish both last and second last in a season, 1991.
