Just listened to 15 minutes of Dimma on Sen. Ill get as close to word for word correct as I can.

Sounds so very hawthorn like.... " We don't change alot each week, half backs play on half forwards, player plays the position gets whoever he gets most times"

On Morton " We felt with his boot , athletic ability and creativity that he had more value to us with 20-25 possessions a week in the midfield than 7-9 positions in a forward pocket". "To his credit hes taken it onboard and learn't the role". "Had to go back to go forward"

On Post " He's a late developer, he's going to be very important to us, he's a few years off being a regular senior player for us".

On Tambling " We messed Richie up a little bit, last year we saw he could be a good player for us in the back line, we tried to turn him into a forward / winger, he'll go back now and learn our defensive role for 2 to 3 weeks, another who has to go back to go forward".

On Cotch " He now has 4 weeks to work on some elements of his game and learn to play some positions in our strucuture that he wouldnt have had time to do".

Quite an admission on Tambling and one a few posters here should listen too. Ritchie was playing great footy last year and has been stuffed around this year by a new coach finding the balance. Neither deserve criticism for this if it takes us forward next year and beyond.

A bit of a worry DH thinks Post is a "late developer" when he was drafted as a top aged player in the first place. Had a lot of confidence in Post to make it after his 1st year, it's now fading since he's gone backwards but he does have time on his side. Hopefully he regains some form, bit surprised he got a call-up given the comments from Newett on EOTT.

Expect the anti tambling brigade to totally ignore those comments.

All kpps are generally late developers, I wouldn't worry at all about that.
I'm rapt about players 'having to go back in order to go forward'
True long term thinking. FINALLY. Because that's really what you need to do. This is what TW would never have done because he was always looking for the quick fix.

Tambling may become decent yet lol

EDIT: Post is another who has gone backward in order to go forward. He's bulked up and therefore has lost his speed that he had last year (when he showed a lot). When he gets that back he will be a gun :)

did he say anything about moore, thurstfied and white all being injured, how long will they be out or how serious their injuries are?

Why is it a worry?
Podsiadly is a late developer.

Don't mind it when a coach comes out and admits that they made a mistake with a player. As mentioned it still won't stop the Tambling bashers from getting stuck in but at least those who pay attention will know why Richie hasn't been as good as he was last year.

He was a top age draftee and only became serious in the year he was drafted, thats probably all he meant by late developer.

Morton was the real interest point for me. Post has time on his side, still a kid. I was hoping that we hadn't seen the best of Mitch already.

Been saying it all year. We could have played Tambo in defence and Deledio in the middle

I've defended Tambling over time and supported him, but, he will never be anything but a good ordinary player. Sorry, but it's true. He's had more than a "fair shake of the sauce bottle".

On your reckoning it's all over for anyone drafted at 19 who isn't a regular in first 3 years. Bloody glad Hardwick doesn't see it this way and he understands some blokes take longer than others. A lot of the best players in the comp are over 26 years of age. What is he 20????? One late developer made his debut this year at 28 years of age and has kicked 38 goals.

When did I say it "was all over him". People should learn to read posts before mashing the reply button in anger.

Why are you worried Post is a late developer based on the age he was drafted? If you're worried about this, the obvious conclusion is you don't think he has time on his side, hence he's unlikely to make it. Pretty simple I would've thought.

Yes that's good and hopefully Bling can find some form, however be interesting how they set it up when he comes back with Connors and Lids looking so good back there. Also I will admit I am a Tambling 'basher' if that's what you want to call it(even though I am happy to see him succeed as a player whether it be here or elsewhere) but those Tambling fans have to admit it wasn't all about being played out of position, there is also a work rate/lack of interest problem with him in the last few weeks.. if not most of the year. I guess that's what my problem is, good or bad you like to see them giving 100%, if when he comes back as a back and plays like he did last year I have no problem at all with him getting a run.

He has time on his side but it's worrying he's gone backwards this season given he was an overaged kid when drafted. I'm not writing him off, in fact I'm still a fan. Can't believe I had to explain that to you. Pretty simple I would've thought.

As Hardwick said they got it wrong with Tambling by trying to make him into a winger/forward. Obviously he has struggled to make the adjustments to the new role. Now they will address that by sending him back to Coburg and getting him to learn the new defensive setup we have going. That might mean a move to the wing/midfield for Connors Deledio or even Newman.

Very interesting. I think we need Deledio to play as our quarterback (at HB) as he's our best kick and probably our best decision maker. Add Newy and Connors across there as well and there aren't that many spots left for a small. Unless Tambling can become a very good small stopper, I'm not sure where his spot is down back. That's probably why Dimma had him playing up forward.

That said - I think one test of premiership teams is whether someone who could play midfield in other teams, "only gets a game" in the back pocket of a premiership team. Think Mark Johnson from the Bombers circa 2000, Enright/Wojak from the Cats etc.

Clearly we're a long way from being a premiership team but maybe Dimma will be pushing Tambling to be that small stopper that we really need. He's certainly got the talent to beat most people one on one. He's also quick enough.

We could say that "they have got it wrong" or we could say that Tambling has done shit **** all his whole time at the club bar maybe 10 games last year. If he wasn't pick 4 he would be out of this club already. He is just a shit player with no football smarts. Dumb footballer.

I was a fan but this year I have had enough. I hope he somehow turns into an elite player and I am proven wrong. I hope Hardwick turns him into a gun HB player. I can tell you now that is going to be very unlikely.

AS I pointed out in the Bling is going to GFC, he hasnt got his role in the side right, great to see our coach accepting some responsibility for Blings situation. But I can tell you that Richie will come good and he wants to help us win a cup. As for Post and Vickery they are still a couple of years away from showing us their best. Carlisle, Panos and Black have not been seen this year, yet last year both Post and Vickery were thrown in the deep end. Browne will show us what he has got in the coming weeks and mark my words all the above players will be great not just good. :thumbsu::):thumbsu::eek::eek:

Nothing like having a foot in either camp, I hope Richie can turn into an elite players and prove me wrong but I doubt he will. At least that way if Richie comes good you can say well I hoped he would get better and if he doesn't you can always turn around and say well I picked it. :o

As for Richies form, not only has he been trying to recover from compartment syndrome surgery to both legs, he has also had to learn how to play a new role in the team. Any wonder the bloke has struggled this year, as I'm sure you would if you were trying to do the same.

If he wasn't a pick 4 he'd still be at the club without a doubt, and probably much happier because he wouldn't be judged so harshly. Not to mention we wouldn't be discussing him like this, constantly. His stretch of football last year was elite and there is not a player in the league who would be delisted after playing like that. And then you look at his 2008, and it was pretty decent. Nobody going to be delisted after that. And before that he showed enough glimpses that as a youngster, he wasn't going anywhere.

I think the out-of-position claim is just empty rhetoric, though. He played perfectly fine down forward last year when he was hot. Rewind to the 1st West Coast game last year where he was playing as a creative HFF, and he was absolutely dominant, especially in the first quarter (where we kicked something like 7 goals to 1, and he was directly involved in all of them).

His form is down this year, and I don't know why, none of us know why, whether it's his off season injuries, struggling with the gameplan, or maybe he's just packed it all in. Whatever it is, we'd be stupid not to give him at least one more season to see if we can get him back to the scintillating form he showed in 09.
