Greetings,

Suggestions: If this would work or fair?

Option A: Trade Nathan Carroll to the Dockers for Ryan Murphy. Dockers might be interested as Carroll is a Western Australian.

or

Option B: Trade C Johnson to the Dockers for Ryan Murphy. Good opportunity to send both players home while they don't get much opportunities.

Thoughts?

I'd be suprised if they wanted Carroll back as he started off on their rookie list a few years ago but got chopped... Option B

He could be if actually played there. We never played him anywhere except a crappy back flanker spot except for a couple of the final games.

Soft outsiders are dime a dozen in our side though, Johnson was too similar a player to Ward/Bruce/Green/Johnstone, very much dispensable.

Though I'd hang on to him if a decent offer doesn't come up.

I agree. I thought since CJ doesn't get much oppotunities and he is only 21, maybe a trade with Murphy might work. If a decent offer doesn't come up, might as well keep and develop him further under the new coach.

U r kidding are you?

Freo will not trade for Carroll or Johnson or Johnstone.

Johnstone is a Jarrad Schofield waiting to happen

Johnson ....er just no

Carroll...Freo got rid of him from our rookie list several moons ago. We don't want him.

If you & Connolly want Murphy so much....we'll take Davey or swap 1st round picks & 3rd round picks

There is no way that Murphy's value comes anywhere close to Davey's. Swap of first round picks and CJ would be a possible offer.

I'd do Johnstone for Murphy and their 3rd rounder which we then on trade to Adelaide for Meesen.

we cant afford to lose carrol unless its for a key position player or a high draft pick. as for c johnson, we'd prob have to offer fremantle our 3rd round pick to get a deal done with the dockers

Chris Johnson has no interest from other clubs by the look of this article on the club website.
New coach and a new start for Johnson

THROUGHOUT the dark times in season 2007, Melbourne fans may have consoled themselves with the thought that their young players were getting plenty of game time.
While Lynden Dunn, Michael Newton, Matthew Bate and Nathan Jones were establishing themselves, one frustrated youngster was watching on from the sidelines as his peers leapfrogged him.
By his own admission, Chris Johnson did not improve in his fourth season on Melbourne’s list, managing just eight games for the year.
“I don’t reckon I got enough opportunities. I got a couple but I thought I was a bit stiff at times. But there’s always next year,” Johnson said.
Generally lining up in defence, he is hoping to flourish under new coach Dean Bailey.
“I’m hoping to get a few more opportunities under the new coach. I want to have a big pre-season and go from there,” he said.
“But I know I have to work on a few things.”
Johnson’s concerns don’t just rest with his own performance. Though still just 21, and yet to establish himself as a senior player, Johnson has plenty of ideas on how the side can improve.
“Last year our pre-season was more to do with run and carry. We focussed on that so much that we didn’t really get in to play the game and win the ball,” he said.
“Because of that we couldn’t get the ball inside 50 and our scoring opportunities were limited.”

Just the usual, slag off the old coach by saying he got a lack of opportunities, promise a big preason under the new coach. I'm looking for a massive NAB cup from CJ before an unimpressive round 1 game and only about 5 more for the season.

Am I the only one that rates Johnson? I didn't think he did all that badly last year, and he was in and out of the team like a yo-yo.

He's got good disposal, something we sorely lack, and with Brown and Ward retiring we aren't exactly overflowing with HBFs.

I don't think the new coach will make that much difference, but playing 22 games a year will.

Rance may be available at 14. He'd have to do a Sellar like slide though.
Everyone says Sellar slid, but really what has he done since?

CAC was right IMO to take Chip.
