Think a cafe is a bit different from your local food hall. I’m certainly not stacking the dishes and taking them to the counter for them regardless of how busy they are.

I find at a cafe mugs etc are usually cleared before you have the chance to leave etc.

I normally do it without a second thought, but due to this thread , I hesitated before doing so the other day. I think there's truth to the observation that doing it means the tables are cleaned less often, unfortunately

Took the kids out for a day trip a few days ago so saw most of these public areas first hand....

Cinema - was chatting to the attendant after the movie (we were 3 of only 6 people in theatre), whilst the daughter was in the loo. I told her there was a drink or something spilled in our seats, so we had moved (in an empty theatre pretty sure noone cares!). Just didn't want her to think it was us. She told us they get a 'seating' map and only go down the row in front of, and the row where people sit. Very rare they have a full theatre, so they share roles (one on tickets, one on cleanup, then swap each movie). Full clean only in morning (before first showing), and after 3pm showing (when both morning and afternoon staff are on). We take everything (lolly wrapper, drink bottle, etc) out and place in bin - would not know we had been there.

Food Court - I always empty rubbish to bin, wipe down table with napkin (even if scraping onto floor) and leave as clean as possible. I'd estimate 80% of people leave their rubbish behind - half eaten and all, and about 50% of people will move rubbish to a neighbouring table and sit down. One cleaner for about 20 tables - would come out every 10-15 minutes with a rubbish trolley and wipe down with what appeared to be the same cloth. Watched one couple after their meal actually wipe their plates and cutlery 'clean', then stacked them neatly on top of the (clean) dispensers....suddenly felt the need to wipe my fork, but didn't feel like the rest of my lunch.

Maccas - I always empty rubbish to bin, but this time my daughter made a hell of a mess, her cheeseburger fell apart and landed face down on her seat (absorbent cloth material in the padding) so although we 'cleaned up' it wasn't fit for next person. (I still don't know how you can drop a burger underneath where you are sitting, but she has special talents!). I told a kid about it who was cleaning the next table when we left, they just walked over, looked at it and then went back to their previous table without doing anything.

Park - large playground with 4 x BBQ sections all under one roof (a Swastika - just realised it actually is when trying to explain it). One family, clearly a birthday or similar celebration had 2 running, other two were empty. We setup around one, (but foolishly didn't turn it on), then another guy setup on the 4th by himself. After about 20 minutes, went to turn the BBQ on, only for the foulest smell to emanate from the grill. A combination of melting rubber and plastic and a distinct urine smell. We had Maccas instead.

Good man. Cinemas can get very busy and we'd usually always be understaffed (can only think of ONE time we were over staffed- I watched Centre Stage ) so popcorn and coke cups in the bin help out massively. As we still gotta sweep up the popcorn on the floor... and put arm rests back down + check exits (one campaigner actually put up ALL the arm rests in cinema 4 once- i had to put them all down again. Srsly who the hell does shit like that)

i always take my stuff with me and deposit them into the bin upon exiting.

No thank god. But i did have to dispose of a mt franklin bottle with urine in it once. Disgusting scrubbed my hands so hard after even tho the outside of the bottle was totally dry

I don't use a tray but all I've ordered I forever take with me to wherever the easiest to reach bin is.

BONUS: I even endeavour to push the chairs in as far as possible too.

This questions along the similar vein: at the footy (or another event in a stadium), do you leave your rubbish on the floor under your seat or do you take it to the bin? Personally, I just shove it in my bag (which is a mess anyway, full of jackets and food and other crap) and take it to the bin somewhere on the way home, or chuck it out at home. Most of my family, on the other hand, just leave it on the floor. Thoughts?
