King has been selected in the side even though he isn't confident in his ability to beat injury. Why?

What's wrong with your captain coach? Do you know anything?

So many questions and so very few answers. Why select a ruckman who isn't confident in his body? Why talk to the media about the skipper if you don't know a lot about his condition?

I've said it before and I'll say it again...AYE CARUMBA. :(

Interesting how he's now contradicted himself too on the "We didn't know who was playing on Simpson" line, by saying he played quite a few guys on him but they kept losing him. Should've put Ling on him from the word go.

The simple answer is no - he does not.

Forget about the "we didn't know who was playing on Simpson" line - I'm with Bomber on this one. Of course the coaching staff knew who was meant to be playing on him at any given time, but I think Bomber was just saying that whoever was meant to be doing a job wasn't.

It's a different matter with King. Which other coach would allow a guy who hasn't done anything in years find form in the seniors????

Is this a dangerous idea? If you have any doubts, think about King's last touch against the Hawks - a beautiful handpass to a running player who kicked a great goal on the run. Only problem is the running player was Crawford!

No - King should be finding his form in the VFL. And only fit players with form should be running out for in the seniors on any given day. If Bomber was coaching Hird, Kerr, Cousins, Voss (Michael) etc then he could take this gamble. But a below par Stephen King is a HUGE liability.

Problem being that very good players (and he used to be in that bracket) hardly ever come back from injury and into the seconds. Other problem is the Bomber still sees him as a very good player.............which he is clearly not :(

My point exactly!

The sooner we have Ottens is as our number 1 ruckman and King left to rot in the reserves Geelong will be 1000 times better than what we have been in the two weeks without him. Ironic isn't it that with Ottens played in his proper position (ruck) we get first use of the ball a hell of a lot more and suddenly our side plays attacking great to watch footy.

King is shot, 3 effective hitouts in 28 suggests he doesn't even know what he is doing in the ruck, time to cut him and while we're at cutting that sham of a coach that has no idea what he is doing! Bomber is the Richie Vandenberg of coach!!!

This would be very nice - but the workload means that he is already injured.

You clearly didn't hear Adam Simpson on AW last night. He couldn't answer the question as to who was playing on him. And he was surprised no one was sent out to lock-on to him. I don't think the coaching panel did know who was meant to be on him otherwise they would have sent the player concerned a strong message somewhere between possession 8 and possession 41:rolleyes:

I think Bomber was having a none to subtle dig at the midfield coach. But as head coach he has to assume responsibility. The same thing happened when Daniel Kerr killed us with 40 plus possessions at SS last year. Coaches are usually told when an opposition player gets a number of possessions in relatively quick succession and good strategic coaches lock 'em down in quick fashion.

Points well made, he was covering the coaches collective arse's.Was a stupid comment in the first place.

That's because the guy can't jump. I bet the 3 effective hitouts were results of wayward bounces rather than anything King did. A ruckman who can't jump is as useless as an ashtray on a motorbike.

Also interesting that last four games... Ottens plays, Cats win. King plays, Cats lose.
Bring back Otto asap, and King to the reserves.

The simple fact is that you have to play your best 22 players each week. Thompson continually plays guys who we good in the past. I'd love a coach who isn't scared to drop a regular or a 'big name' in the interest of our club. Right now we have too many protected players.

Excellent article in the HUN yesterday by M Sheahan about how the players have too much power at the cats and still call the shots. We need a coach who will take charge. We have a culture problem that hasn't got any better under bomber.

Time to start a fighting fund so we can pay out Bomber's contract and have enough to buy Voss out of his Ch10 contract - we could have Voss by mid-season.

so how deep are your pockets?

Voss needs to do his time as an assistant first. Don't want our version of the Tim Watson disaster.

I'd say that's the long and short of it. Otto plays, we have a chance. King plays, we struggle because we actually rely on Blakey to give us advantage, and he's still learning.

Keep Otto fit for the rest of the year, for crying out loud!
