Does your interest in the AFL wane when the WC is on?

if you understood soccer you wouldn't say what you're saying.
The one thing I don’t understand about soccer is how anyone could find it interesting. Basically Riverdance with a ball chucked in.

But clearly you see something in it which has eluded me for the 40 odd years I’ve been trying to fathom its attraction, and good on you.

Everyone has different tastes and different things they enjoy.

Personally I find soccer more exciting and easy on the eye, and apart from a Richmond game I would watch soccer (EPL, A league U
Euro etc) given the choice.

But is just my opinion, you share another opinion. Simple.

haha - the riverdance comparison would probably be seen as complimentary by some critics.
It's all good. Everyone has their likes, hates, and headscratchers.

Soccer’s a horrible game, if you want a more beautiful, grittier sport than footy you could do worse than take out a subscription to GAA Go and follow this year’s All-Ireland hurling championship, it’s a sporting gem.

Nothing better than being in Dublin when the GAA final is on

I've definitely prioritised watching the world cup over AFL since it started. Like others have said there are not really many clashes though (outside of Australia vs France).

I wouldn’t prioritise any non-Australia game over footy

However given both WC and Australia will clash tonight - it’ll depend on the footy at 3/4 time as to what i watch

If either team lead by 30+ at the last break I’ll watch the Socceroos

If it is tight - I’ll watch the footy and switch to the Socceroos late in the first half

No

Soccer is fabulous to play but boring as bat shit to watch.

Top sides like Barca v City would be an exception but the WC is a rabble of top players who are chucked together with little structure or understanding

I have been a little surprised at how sour Richmond fans are about Geelong in the past two years. Is this because the Cats have beaten up on the Tigers for the past 35 years? 42 - 10 since 1983. Interesting. I actually don't mind the Tigers, but their fans are fast becoming more ignorant and repulsive than Hawthorn supporters...and that's saying something. I wonder if it's an abandonment issue?

Nice condescending troll champ. The Geelong supporters started getting offended around April last year when it was clear that Dusty was much better than Danger. Couple that with the fact that Richmond had also become a much better side than Geelong. Oh dear, Geelong fans couldn't cope. Trolling us at every chance. Once we realised how the tide had turned, we started giving you back some of your own medicine. Chin up petal, life goes on, even for entitled 'fans' like yourself.

It's far more tactical than Australian Rules, so what you're saying makes no sense.
So a sport that has less variables (less players, less available actions on the ball, less field, etc) is MORE tactical than Australian rules because you say it is?

What do you based your flawed opinion on?

The reality is the game of soccer is WAY more simple than aussie rules, by design. And that is good that soccer is available for all those people who may not be able to play something more advanced like aussie rules due to genetic difficulties.

Yeah don't worry when you switch to the soccer. Since most games end 0-0 or 1-0 I'm sure you will not miss much tuning in late.
