I happened to walk into a 10 Pin Bowling place just as the Steve Johnson thing happened as they had Fox running on a giant screen.

Steve Johnson did not actually make any contact. The Port Player just threw his head back. Thus SJ screaming 'I didnt touch him' and Chapman laughing and pointing at the umpire... presumably yelling death threats to the umpire.

The panel also surprisingly laid no reports arising out of Sunday's spiteful Geelong-Port clash at Skilled Stadium although Port's Robbie Gray and Daniel Motlop were looked at but cleared over incidents involving Geelong defenders Darren Milburn and Harry Taylor respectively.
From Sportal.

Surprising!!! Motlop should have got three. One for the punch and two for the gutless way it was executed.

Not surprised 'Dog' got off. Nothing in it. Put it down to an inexperienced umpire. And 'Buddy' getting the 'Goodes' treatment was expected.

The match day report against Geelong's Steve Johnson was assessed. Johnson was reported for making unnecessary contact to the head of Port Adelaide's Troy Chaplin during the second quarter. It was the view of the panel the level of impact of the contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. As such, no further action was required.

Contact between Port Adelaide's Daniel Motlop and Geelong's Harry Taylor from the third quarter of Sunday's match was assessed. Motlop's action was a pushing motion and not a strike. No further action required.

So you can push someone in the face by behind play while they're on the ground in a swinging motion and get away with it these days?

Boggles the mind.

I personally didn't think it was worth any matches from the replay I saw. Contact was pretty minor and wasn't with the fist or hard. (Then again I think a lot of things that do get reported and players suspended shouldn't be ... a bit old school maybe?)

From my vantage point in the Doug Wade Stand, I initially thought Motlop actually kneed Taylor in the head, instead of striking him. Haven't seen the replay of the incident though, but he may have just hit Taylor, then just pushed him over with his knee.

The contact was more from motlops forearm from what I saw and although he swung it down there the actual contact was more like a push. I was watching the arm and missed if he also pushed Harry over with his knees.
