I genuinely have no idea why anyone would consider exercising alone unusual.
I walk through a national park near me every day. On weekends there's groups and a few couples also use the tracks daily but it's mostly singles walking alone.

Edit: I love travelling alone too. Most time's I've gone overseas I've taken days away from the group I was with to do my own thing. Partly because I like having my own space but also because I want to dive into things that interest me that don't interest other people.

Walking or exercising alone is quite normal. I always walk or run alone.

Go to the footy alone quite a bit. Might catch up with mates when I'm there and/or after the game but generally watch it alone.

Fridays and weekends are more social but I generally go to my local for a drink either Wednesday/Thursday after work alone if I've had a rough day. Sit at the bar and have a chat to the bar staff over 1 or 2, love it.

I would have thought exercising is ordinarily done alone?

Couldn't imagine going for a jog with others.

Gym is a little different, because you can get someone to spot you and talk shit in between sets but I've always preferred to go by myself and really smash out a workout.

I hate running with other people - i cbf'd talking to them, i want to run my own pace, i want to run my own path/track and make it up as i go.

If im going for a walk, i dont mind if its with other people (wife and or kids) but normally im on my own, especially when i walking the dog

I dont mind going to the footy on my own. The people i used to go with dont go anymore (my mum has passed away, best mate lives overseas and othes arent interested). The wife, who hates footy always wants to come and then sit there bored 🤷‍♂️, so i'd rather go on my own 🤣

Depends how you exercise.

If I wanted to work on my running I wouldn't think anything of going to the local park and running laps of the oval. But I'm not going to dress up in full West Coast kit and kick the footy by myself because I'm not 8.

Most things mentioned here I do on my own.

Concerts, travelling, walks and cinema are not weird to do on your own.

Tried eating on my own at a restaurant when I was in America and it felt too awkward and I walked out of the restaurant saying to myself 'never again'.

I do this often when travelling for work, felt weird early but once phones became really good it was easier. A few times I'd even bring a book ha ha

It was a weird experience, IIRC the restaurant was pretty much empty and me being there seemed to put the staff on edge.

Probably not as bad in a busy restaurant where you can blend in with the crowd.

Totally - book or newspaper and it's fine. If all you do is sit there and look around that is a bit weird.
