I think the mistake you might have made is that you think all comments are said in a kind of 'innocent' way.
I believe some posters are quite deliberate in that, they want to destroy things, in other words "it is their real agenda" and they use Forums such as this as their vehicle
Look at their past history, its all there for everyone to see, no one needs to embellish it.

Everybody has an agenda, everybody has a reason and a motivation for posting on here and writing what they write.

Sometimes people have a shitty day and want to take it out on the world, sometimes people want to share around the rainbows and lollipops. Sometimes people want to have a laugh, a tease, a debate, etc, etc

It's similar to real life in that way.

The world has made some people glass half empty types. We're a broad church at Collingwood and that is reflected on here - all age groups, male / female, happy people, sad people, etc, etc.

It's not hard to imagine that that there might be a regular at your local pub who is a Collingwood supporter who incessantly whines about how Mick was god and Bucks is rubbish. So why wouldn't those types come onto BigFooty?

Ever read Hitch hiker's guide to the Galaxy? (pretty sure jmac70 would have). Who is your favourite character? For many folks it's Marvin the Paranoid Android, an absurdly depressed robot. He's so ridiculous he's funny. I've noticed that some folks have been treating the chronic glass-half-empty types on here a bit like that lately.

There is no doubt that trolls are the bane of this board. I cannot believe the amount of times that people insist on saying something that is clearly wrong. I suppose that I could forgive and forget if they would just admit that they're wrong after I explain the situation to them.....but then they insist on being disruptive and argumentative .... it really pisses me off. I have put a lot of them on ignore but I'm not sure if that's the answer. Maybe we can ask the moderators to check to see if people are posting correct opinions and ban those who are consistently off the mark....

Not true.

In the grand scheme of things, trolls are rare, very very rare.

Trolls are just like negative posters, they get noticed. We could have five trolls and five negative posters and you'll think the board has gone to the dogs ... eventhough they'll be massively outnumbered by hundreds of positive, insightful posters.

And besides, trolls aren't really the problem. It's the people who reply to them who derail the threads.

Is it the one mischievous post, or the dozen "p*ss off back to your board" posts that derail threads?
