You're right about the importance of faith to some people; I am very cynical about the church not about faith.

There's a difference between our passionate support of a sporting club and organised religion. Don't get me started. :)
Was it the English football manager who said:

Some People think football is about life and death
it’s far more important than that

Why are scientists wasting time trying to get a vaccine? Prayer power!

If the invisible friend existed then surely by now it would have stopped the virus by simply answering the faithfuls prayers.
Just another example where the only faith you should ever have is in yourself.

Hahaha "imaginary mate". :)

I do trust the scientists working to develop and test the vaccine more than I'd trust myself to perform this task. :p

Even the worst "football" fanatics i.e. English hooligans pale into insignificance compared to the wars and invasions that have occurred due to religious zealots.

Anyone ever been to Heathrow?
Can you remember the planes being flown in every 30-60 seconds?
How about now?

I remember watching the flaps on an A380 working overtime to limit the buffeting from the planes in front wake. It was great to watch, knowing it was all computer work, not human.
Now you could just about glide in.

Fantastic idea by the news.com site...... "Ask Robbo"....Send in your question to Robbo and he will reply with expert answers...I think it's a brilliant idea..

1. What's the best cure for a hangover?
2. What do you do when you're in front of a group of people and you suddenly can't remember what you were talking about?
3. What is the quickest way to get drunk with the least amount of money?

It was two people’s word against one.
And that was enough for people like you and me to see the truth.
That people who are removed from normal society to render a different verdict undermines the whole jury process. If I was ever to be called for jury duty again I would cite this case as the waste of my time being on a jury would be.

I was on a jury where the majority didnt understand a technicality about what constituted self defence. A person hit a guy with a piece of wood and the guy followed the guy who hit him and bashed him. Most on the jury believed that the guy acted in self defence. The law disagrees. The jury couldnt see that and found the guy not guilty of assault. It was the wrong decision and I went along with it because I couldnt convince them of the law. Juries sometimes dont understand the law, and the defence in this case appealed on the basis of insufficient evidence and the high court agreed. The high court didnt find him innocent. It found insufficient evidence to convict.

Hey guys and girls. Obviously I’m not alone when it comes to being a footy tragic, but I’m missing footy that much that I’ve taken the SC Draft teams that my mates and I picked prior to the season, and I’ve created the teams on AFL Evolution 2. 10 minutes quarters, completely AI players. I’m simulating through a season whilst manually keeping track of results and stats.

I broadcast the game on Twitch, then export it to YouTube when it saves.

I don’t expect anyone to sit there and watch the games (although I have, and despite the game being glitchy sometimes, the unpredictability of the result and game has actually created quite a bit of entertainment), I’d love if you could subscribe to me on Twitch and/or YouTube simply for the effort I’m going to for a footy fix, that’d be greatly appreciated ❤

Before I let you go, I know it’s a video game, but just as example, a game I just broadcast earlier today had a cracking finish! A 31 point 3/4 deficit ended in dramatic fashion! Even if you just pick up from half through the last and get me a view on my vid you won’t regret it, the finish is just as good as the real thing:) peace fam, and hopefully we’ve got the real stuff back soon.

Champion racehorse Might And Power has been remembered for his tenacity and will to win after he passed away with colic aged 26 on Sunday morning. :'(

All time uber elite super star.

One of only two horses, ever, to win our three biggest races: Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate.

And that win in the Caulfield Cup was pulverising.

One of the greatest.

Faith is important to a lot of people.

May not be your thing, or mine, but it has its place to give people comfort and solace.

No different to love of Collingwood and what that brings people.

I suppose it begs the question that if the club suddenly disappeared and wasn't heard of again, whether there would still be collingwood supporters 2000 years from now...

This is a demonstration of a generation gap of epic proportions...

i would argue the Melbourne Cup was better. Carried way more weight and led all the way which i am pretty sure had ever happened in a Melbourne cup before in all its history

Yep, this. High court having declared him innocent, just that there was sufficient doubt to overturn the decision. It was always a tough case to make since it was essentially 1 persons word against another persons word.

i dont think the court declared him innocent, although Pell and his supporters are saying that. The court said that there was more than a reasonable doubt that Pell did what he was accused of doing.

If you looked it from the other side, do you think that Pell was innocent beyond reasonable doubt? I dont think so. But the court doesnt work that way.

Been leaders previously (pretty much the whole way), Posinatus and (Comic Court partially to mainly) pop into my mind.
Ofcourse those races aren’t as available as today’s races, so they may have led for the bulk of the race or took up the running first time in the straight.
Should say, Comic Court was headed in the first straight run for a bit but seems to take the lead again pretty much at the 1200, but I think overall he leads most of the time. But not for the whole race.

Posinatus did lead the whole way. And win.

But as a rule it just doesn’t happen. Tough gig going all the way. It’s a long long long straight especially on the final swing home.

His MelBourne Cup win was something else, you’re right. And staving off such a genuine star stayer like Doriemus was something.

Edit: forgot about Lord Fury in 1961 who liked to lead and burn his opposition, ran ingloriously on the Saturday but led from go to whoa to win the Cup in 1961.

Yeah, auto correct. Should have been “haven’t” instead of having. Will fix.

Sad news from England overnight. Vale Tim Brooke-Taylor, another Covid victim. I used to look forward to the Goodies every week. RIP.
Tragic news.
But do yourself a favour and catch up on the Goodies shows through DVD or YouTube.
In Australia we got edited (read Censored) versions because of the 6pm time slot.

I am no horse-race man (apologies to Good Horse, no offense intended), but due to the monotony of self isolation, I actually watched the race. How often has a horse basically led the field from the start of the cup and gone on to win? I would have thought it a rarity but then again who am I to know. I assume that Might and Power traditionally ran out front as mention was made by the caller that he had done the same in the Caulfield Cup.

I was thinking that drug dealers who deal from home and their clients must be taking a bit of a risk during stage 3 restrictions. Neighbours are often aware of excessive movement in and out of a dealer's house but would perhaps give it the benefit of the doubt. However this covid business, with users having more time on their hands and extra funds from the government's generous handouts, would accentuate the situation and perhaps alert neighbours to the likely presence of evil next door. I wonder if this will result in more busts than usual, given the possibility that a 'dob in an unessential or illegitimate visitor' approach might flush out more than a dealer or two. Just an idle thought from the couch while I kill coronaviral time. Perhaps some of the dealers, users or concerned neighbours among us might care to comment.

Good ? maybe some other posters that follow the racing more than me.
Delta Blues comes to mind but was never the out right leader of the race.

The clientele need not come inside. Leave the product at an agreed-on location, the customer can pick it up in their own time by donning their favourite junkie trak daks and heading out for a 'jog'. If they've been deprived of the serum for a bit then they'll have the sweats, which will complete the picture very nicely.
