It perplexes me how we are being written off and tipped to plunge outside of the 8. Last year, we lost to Geelong (the so called new challengers
to the powerhouse of Brisbane and Port). Yet we lost to them by 10 points after playing 10 minutes of genuine first class fotty and without McPhee and Rioli (2/5 of our best players) and we are called finished. Further, we have one of the youngest sides in the comp, who can only improve. The likes of, Laycock, Watson, McPhee (only 21 or 22), Ramanauskas who could be one the best in the comp, The judd like Bullen, The classy Dyson, The talented Stanton and even Big "laurie" Hille and Bradley can only improve. Further, add in th enigmatic Dean Rioli who when fit is one of the most important players in the comp and can turn a game in the blink of an eye and Andrew Lovett who could solve the so called pace problems in the midfield (who I have no doubt will be promoted to the senior list when Johns is placed on the long term injury list round 1) along with the proven stars of, Hird, Lloyd, Fletcher, the Johnsons, Lucas and Solomon and you've got one of if not the best side in the competition when on song, as proved when we knocked off Port in round 18. So bomber fans do not be disenheartened by those doomsayers who have been writing us off, because they have been writing us off for years, just look at 2000 when we were told after 1999 it was the end, well a flag and 27 won games isnt bad. And don't be surprised if in 2005 Kevin Sheedy launches another successful campaign and in the process finds another superstar or five.
