It perplexes me how we are being written off and tipped to plunge outside of the 8. Last year, we lost to Geelong (the so called new challengers  to the powerhouse of Brisbane and Port). Yet we lost to them by 10 points after playing 10 minutes of genuine first class fotty and without McPhee and Rioli (2/5 of our best players) and we are called finished. Further, we have one of the youngest sides in the comp, who can only improve. The likes of, Laycock, Watson, McPhee (only 21 or 22), Ramanauskas who could be one the best in the comp, The judd like Bullen, The classy Dyson, The talented Stanton and even Big "laurie" Hille and Bradley can only improve. Further, add in th enigmatic Dean Rioli who when fit is one of the most important players in the comp and can turn a game in the blink of an eye and Andrew Lovett who could solve the so called pace problems in the midfield (who I have no doubt will be promoted to the senior list when Johns is placed on the long term injury list round 1) along with the proven stars of, Hird, Lloyd, Fletcher, the Johnsons, Lucas and Solomon and you've got one of if not the best side in the competition when on song, as proved when we knocked off Port in round 18. So bomber fans do not be disenheartened by those doomsayers who have been writing us off, because they have been writing us off for years, just look at 2000 when we were told after 1999 it was the end, well a flag and 27 won games isnt bad. And don't be surprised if in 2005 Kevin Sheedy launches another successful campaign and in the process finds another superstar or five.

The judd like Bullen

Might want to edit that one.

Other than that, I'd agree with your optimism.
But: I want them to write us off.
I want everyone to think of us as the has-beens, the old guard, the Hird & Lloyd and Nothing Else team.

Right up until late September, anyway.
And if we don't kick arse, then we still don't look like idiots. Win-win.

I'm no doomsayer, but you lot are in trouble I reckon. Fletcher is but a shadow of the player he was, Hird will never play as well as he did last yr again, he's no Craig Bradley, he's getting older. Dean Rioli has had good games here and there, he's far too inconsistent. Now before you go at me about the tiges and inconsistency, at least we recognise when we're crap (see last 20 yrs give or take). For the first time in a long time there is genuine concern (or relief if you're us) that the bombers are brittle, just a couple of injuries and your depth just won't be there.

Oh and one day the umpires are going to wake up and realise that matthew lloyd dives for nearly every contest he thinks he might get beaten in, him and wanganeen have a mortgage on the best actors oscar!! The year that happens he'll be short about 20 goals!!! :D

I reckon Bullen will become like Judd. But its good being written off so we can catch em by surprise. But don't worry, the Brisbanes and Ports of this world still regard us highly

Believe what you believe, but Bullen will be a betterplayer than Bradley. Just look at his performance against the cats in the final, only real 4 quarter effort. Saved his career.

Don't write us off? Who has written us in to begin with? We'll be rubbish. The sooner most of you understand this the better as you'll save a lot of time, rather than moaning half way through the season of which people to sack at the club.

Bullen is a depth player, he'll have to work very had to become more than that. This will be his 5th year at the club and he's yet to establish himself. I'll take him becoming a decent and regular senior player as a win, let alone "Judd-like".

It's called REALISTIC not pessimistic. I think you're the only person on the planet that thinks Bullen is anywhere remotely close to Judd in any aspect of the game.

It doesn't matter what the tossers on BF think, AFL clubs should never underestimate an opponent

Spot on could not have put it better, LLoyd dives bombers brittle. :D

Let em write us off all they want. Means no premiership expectations then and that we'll just keep on keeping on quietly. We're a threat this year, one that shouldn't be underestimated.

So it takes the Tiges 20 years to realize they are crap!

You're wrong and so are you M29, you're just a pesimist and thats whats not needed
You're all deluded. There is a greater chance of the mighty nation of Guam becoming a world superpower than us winning a flag in the next 3 or 5 years.

You're all having a w@nk.

You should all stay at home and touch yourselves whilst you watch the 2000 season highlights video.
