Here is a challenge for the AFC.

Can they continue not to give this guy a game.

He is a gun - and would be playing AFL for most of the other teams atm.

Another top performance on Saturday.

Four goals two.

He can play in most positions on the ground.

Do we see reward him with a game in the next few weeks with a home game against Collingwood or Freo to see if he is ready for AFL?

Or do we play it safety first and keep playing the players that are currently doing well.

Very hard to drop anyone, but if anyone deserves a chance he does. You also need to have one eye on the future as well as an eye on the present.

Furthermore, If Hentsh does not back up this week - give the kid a go. He could play at half back - a position he played for Calder at times last year, often when changing on the ball. This would be tough on Needles - but we know he can play - lets see if Dougie is ready. He could then be another potential player in the mix by years end.

He has been consistently good all year in the SANFL.

Keep going young man!!!!

With

Dougie
Welsh
Pez
The Count
Trent

all available for selection soon - and Porps firing in the SANFL - there is going to big some tough decisions needed to be made.

Anyone brave enough to nominate those to be dropped ?

Certainly is doing all he can to earn a game but I just can't see it happening since in all likelihood he's behind Porplyzia, Van Berlo and dare I say it Jericho for a smalls posistion and with Welsh and Perrie pressing for spots I think the Crows are going to be getting taller.

We've had this argument recently with Maric vs Clarke. I'm a firm believer that if you have a talented player that could be a 10 year player for your club then you play them. Others will disagree.

We were minor premiers last season but managed to get some games into Van Berlo even though he had very minimal impact. We saw the benefits of that investment this season. He could be in our leadership group within the next 3 years.

Would love to see Douglas get a few games. McLeod opens up one spot in the 22, Massie, Torney, Bode are others who could make way for a game or two. Reilly could even do with a rest this week if he is carrying something.

No way can you drop Massie or Bode. Both had outstanding games. Torney is a possibilty to be dropped, but he is still a required player and a decent at that. His game against Sydney was awesome.

Jericho won't play this season, and is a chance to be delisted. McLeod is out of course, so that opens one spot, but Hart will take that and Hentschel will return this week in the forward lines.

If both Hentschel and Bock are in, surely that means that Stevens will go? Why would we need another tall? Don't want to be too top heavy.

Scott Stevens is not my most respected player in the AFC squad but why does he deserve to be dropped? His form has been fantastic the last 4 or 5 week and has really stood up.

I think most of us agree that Stevens doesn't deserve to be dropped - but with Pez and Hentschel coming in.......who would make way ???....Stevens might end up being the unlucky one.

Sometimes a player doesn't deserve to be dropped, doesn't mean you shouldn't drop them to improve the side.

Stevens has had more than half a season to prove that he is a better CHB than Bock. What he has proven (to my surprise) is that he is a pretty handy replacement. But hasn't had the same influence that Bock had last season.

But to drop a guy that has been playing very well in our backlines and doing some of the toughest jobs ever asked of him and creating great run out of our backlines to put in forward line players is just plain silly! So is Hentschel/Perrie going to come in for Stevens and play centre half back? Who plays in Stevens position then? Do we send McGregor back who has played the decoy forward very well and is one of the best contested marks in our forward line? Bock who played his first game of AFL for almost a year and we have to see how his back pulls up?

The others have to earn a place in this side with form in the sanfl that the club is happy with. All I can say is that thank god I don't have to make the decisions!

Would you leave Roo out of a side because Edwards had been playing too well to be dropped? (yes, stupid situation but the same idea)
Stevens has done OK, if Bock can prove he can do better work and improve the team then Stevens would have to be dropped.

Bock would resume his position at CHB, Hentschel slots straight back into the forward line (having missed only one week). Perrie gets to keep running around in the SANFL until he's completely match fit (at which point in time we have a headache).

This week the change will be:
IN: Hentschel
OUT: McLeod

When Macca returns:

IN: McLeod
OUT: Stevens

It's your IF there that I was referring to - Bock would have to PROVE that he is the better option.

On your other point the second rotation with Edwards would be dropped for Roo and not Edwards. The problem with your scenario there is that our best midfield includes Roo and Edwards playing different positions, but Stevens and Bock play the same position.

It is finally nice to have these options to argue about instead of only 5 fit players available outside of the 22 as we did a couple of weeks ago.

The club must have a fair idea of the Best 22. Injury and form permitting - it will always try to move to this optimum situation.

There are no guarantees that Pez, Huddo, and Welsh etc will return in 2005 type form and will need to get through a heap of work in the SANFL to displace the guys who have done the job so far. It's pretty difficult to justify making changes just based on "names" coming back - why would you tinker with the Roo/Burton/Hentchel/McGregor fwd line ? - how could you justify displacing Massie and Stevens ??

Some tough decisions coming up

Personally - I can see Hentchel and Perrie getting back in at the expense of Stevens and one of Massie/Bode/Torney (with Bock heading down back)....tough call on all of these guys......more than likely Bode though.

Hudson v Clarke will depend on Huddo's progress.

Possibly Welsh and VB might struggle to force their way back.

Each week might throw up a different injury - who knows

Having seen Douglas play in the flesh, I'm convinced he will be a gun - the classiest midfielder of our current batch. Probably won't squeeze into the side this year (unless we get injuries), but should play plenty of games from next year,

Agreed. You pick the best side that will give you the best chance to win finals. Fully fit Bock or Stevens ? Bock for me.

I would love to see it but you and I both know it won't happen.
