I'm actually really glad we didn't punt on Hamp.

based purely on his day today - he doesn't appear to be rated very highly by clubs, which is what I tend to believe also.

On doubting our recruiters?? No chance in hell, they've stuck to their guns and the fact that there was no WA kids taken by us shows how little we all know about our teams drafting strategies with people talking up the Darling/Fasolo/Hamp etc. trifectas.

Maybe he's pissed off they didn't give him a red and green jumper.

No, dude, it is the lack of purplengreen. And the lack of anchor factor.:D:D

We've obviously gone off recruiting players from our home state.

In theory, and allowing for Anthony coming to us in the PSD, our 8 picks (assuming pick 72 becomes JA) have resulted in 6 Victorians, a Croweater and only 1 WA boy. Very interesting to see if the come home factor kicks in around say 2014, but I for one am very happy that the Vic Picks were generally the best available (though I think Cripps and Fasolo may come back to haunt us).

Must be going very tall in the rookie draft

Indeed - though given the players still available (Hamps, Phillips, Cope, Monaco, etc) and those still on our rookie list (Sibo, Shep) it isn't like there is exactly a lack of potential rookie talls/hard bodies?? Though I do like Sewell, Wilson and Walker also, so if we got those 3 as rookies and no new talls I'd be Ok with that... But what would I know??? Sweet FA obviously.

Can't say I know enough about these kids to make any informed comment, but they look ok to me. I would have liked a KPP, but in Bond I trust.

My only concern relates to Collingwood taking Fasolo immediately after we took Michie. A lot of people here were hoping for Fasolo, especially seeing as he's local. And with all the Tarrant shenanigans, I hope Michie turns out ok for us.

Indeed. Fasolo and Cripps could come back to haunt us, and the balance on our list is now seriously swaying to non-WA players at the gunyunguns level. That said, the results since 2008 give me faith that the Freo staff can at least make a go of keeping the interstaters keen on being purple people eaters.

skipping darling and getting pitt is all about pace in the forward line if you have another quick sharking type player that is more benefit than a target type forward like darling. Darling is hopefully going to replace lynch mayne and pavlich when he's down there are more than adequate target forwards. Should be a good pick up.

Thanks - good call too, though I also think it isn't just pace that lead to us selecting Pitt (hopefully he isn't the next Hinkley) but also Pitt's proven skill levels off both feet and his tackling and training application. Hard to tell at this stage though, will need to see how the next two years go, and the potential for injuries on such a light frame does worry me.

That's crazy depth, when you consider other young midfielders we have like Ibbotson and Mundy well as forwards who can rotate through like Ballantyne, Walters and Mellington. In terms of depth as well as quality of top players, I'd say we have one of the top, if not the best young midfield in the game right now.

Definitely agree, we are starting to build some real depth and there will definitely be more competition for places in the starting 22 each week, especially in that midfield which is what a premiership side needs.

And lets not forget Mzungu, Faulks and hopefully Anthony as well, the depth is looking ridiculously good for once!

FREMANTLE

Recruiting manager Brad Lloyd says his club emphasised clean disposal by foot at the 2010 NAB AFL Draft.

Draft summary
"We're pretty excited about the guys we could bring in. We targeted guys who could kick the footy well.

"Jayden Pitt is a really exciting talent. He's got a light body at the moment and he'll need a little bit of time but he runs and carries the ball really well and has elite foot skills. With a few years development he'll be a really good player for our footy club.

"There won't be huge expectations on these boys in terms of playing senior footy next year, but most of our list played senior footy at some stage last season. The thing about Mark Harvey is that he'll give them opportunities like we saw with guys like Dylan Roberton, Stephen Hill and Jesse Crichton last year."

Bigfooty draft "experts" do it every year. It's as if local kids and players with a half decent Youtube highlights package are all that exist.

Good kicks tend to turn out to be handy players at the very least- its the most important skill in the game just about

Absolutely no chance of this, Pitt has reportedly the best kick in the draft, and his desicion making is elite. A very smart pick, I agree with scootyb because at very worse he'll be a handy player with those skills, at very best he'll be absolutely lethal.

No surprise we passed on cripps given we already hVe duffield, broughton and mzungu across half back, these days you need elite disposal and pace and which I think cripps has both these midfield rotation is critical, more than happy to back our recruiters

I think I just vomited a little in my mouth Dom!

Awwwww - come on Sammy, you know that "special" colour of eyeliner is just so attractive, especially combined with the Caro face blush...

Stop.

Just stop now please.

But but but. I haven't even mentioned the whiteness of those (admittedly bucky) teeth.

Or the gorgeousness of the redness of the lipstick...

And then there is the awesome cleavage...

Somehow, methinks Bushies appreciation of te cleavage is enhaced when the spittle from Cawwwow's speech is directed on to such valleys of vagueness...

really happy that we did not get darling.
i have a good mate who would have thrown in his membership & he is a foundation member had we drafted him.
when i said he was young & that what he had done could be explained by youthful stupidity, he told me a tale of what his mate who teaches at the school darling was expelled from actually did & i too am glad we did not get him.
i am unsure of the legalities of posting what i was told so i won't do it, but suffice to say it was horrible.
i am willing to speak to people individually about what i was told.
i can't even go so far as to say that he belongs at west coast.
i am very happy with our picks.

Pretty sure it was suspended, not expelled.

Still, as you say, some serious warning signs here.

ok, i will argue semantics here.
being a former administrative educator i do know that a suspension near the end of year 12 is an easier thing to process than an expulsion, with the same result for the school population, so yes it was probably a suspension, but only because it was easier to dole out.
mark my words, if this kid has not learnt his lesson, he will make Fevola look like an angel
