Hope we recruit him just so we can nickname him "Sir Isaac" and watch random barely-related-to-the-theme lego youtube clips.

I assume he'd be Newton or Newt if that were the case. .. hmm maybe I should flood the forum with pre-emptive player nickname threads. .. /goes to basement to get some motivation. ..

This could go in the draft watch thread, but I might as well post it here.

Picks of the draft: Matthew Watson

Picks of the draft: Matthew Watson

Watson's repeat sprint time is quicker than Mark Austin's and Mitch Brown's.

Would tone down to improve his speed and endurance once Cordy has finished with him.

Tipping Watson won't get past Gold Coast or Geelong. :)

I can only see the Cats passing if they draft I.Smith, Smedts or Pitt to get an outside mid/flanker/wingman.

Or pick Lycett to get a ruckman who might be gone by 23.

So two days ago, you were going bananas about the possibility of us taking Watson instead of McCarthy and now Watson is such a talent, he won't get past 15?

I give up.

Did my post suggest that McCarthy shouldn't be drafted before Watson?

If that's a case of going bananas, then you should have given up a long time ago.

A few Geelong supporters want Watson, so it's a reasonable assumption that they need another young KPP.

Most have McCarthy off the board by pick 15, but who knows how the real thing will go.

Emma Quayle thinks Richmond might be after Tape who is a tall defender and a teammate of McCarthy.

It's only OK to tear strips off players and be irrational about their abilities once they're on your list.

Some Carlton supporters and non-Carlton supporters still believe we should have drafted Talia after seeing Lucas this year.

LOL.

Redan to AFL in 80 days for Isaac Smith
He is a star in the making, unlikely to slip much further than pick 15 (Geelong), with Carlton and Hawthorn lurking with intent.

"Dad is a massive Carlton fan. Fingers crossed. If I went to the Blues my dad might have a heart attack. I went there and met Brett Ratten and their facilities are second to none.

"It would be unreal to go there but, bloody hell, I couldn't care where I go, really."

"I never really entertained the idea of playing. I was doing sports management, so I thought I might be a CEO of a footy club, not a player."

I knew it!

Isaac Smith is bluepride.

I've tried writing this about 15 times but have failed.

Issac Smith <3 Carlton.

That's about as far as I could go. That would just be unimaginably awesome if he slipped to 18.

Smith would be great on the wing with Carlton, but he's almost the perfect fit for Geelong after they lost Ablett's x factor, run and skill. A few of their supporters want Watson, but there's a chance they could get Tape at 23 if they want a defender. Taylor has CHB, so I don't understand their massive desire for Watson who is probably best suited to this position. Watson might be able to play the Harley role, but they might be a bit top heavy with Taylor and Watson across half back. I think it was Splendini who said Watson isn't that agile and was beaten/turned by a few slow and cumbersome KPF.

Tom Gillies has the speed to full back.

We cannot select Smith, he is not a tall player! Silly Carlton fans, the first player selected by Carlton must be over 192cm no matter how tough or defensively minded they are, just need to be tall.... then again, not too tall, we have enough ruckman.

Please be between 192-198cm.

Thank you.

coming into draft day i just hope we are able to snare 2 of Watson, Mitchell and Karnezis (would be a fantastic swing man like waite). hopefully they will be available at our picks.

a spine of Mitchell, Hendo, Watson and Jamison would be be amazing for the next 10 years.

also maybe if we miss out on Watson or the player we were hoping of gettin at pick 18. We should look at Tyler Chalwell from East Fremantle. Is 193cm and 89kg. Maybe for pick 34?

Tyler Chalwell East Fremantle 193cm 89kg's

Have watched Tyler all year in the colts, was desperately unlucky not to make the WA under 18 side like a lot of his east freo team mates from the country.

Was best on ground in the colts grand final dominating in the back half.

Every year there is country kids that miss out on the side that should have been in the side, and Brad Wirra has said as much about Tyler this year.

He has played as a tall utility for east freo from full foward to ruck the wing, full back and centre half back.

In my opinion the backline particularly CHB is his best position.

He is very attacking and has a strong frame that he is not afraid to use.
His reading of the play and marking is a feature of his game.
His kicking is excellent and has great awareness, rarely if ever gets caught.
He had very good state screening results very like Harry Taylor, a previous left field selection by Wells.

Outstanding beep of 14.5 and very good 20 metre time as well.

I have had a long look at other available backman, and to me is the best of rest. Maybe a reach at this selection but have a strong feeling he will justify his selection by becoming a very good AFL footballer.
