Draft picks

It was a nervous couple of months... but we did it! We finished on 5 wins and picked up the extra draft pick. I was full on cheering the Swans yesterday!

Anyway, with picks around 3, 5, 21 and 37, who should we pick up?

I reckon:

Pick 3: Brock McLean. Just the kind of player we need. Hard at it, and hates losing.

Pick 5: Raphael Clarke. A bit of a gamble, but he has serious pace and has that 'magic' that only few AFL players have.

Pick 21: Luke Herrington. Perhaps a bit early, but he is a small forward who can kick bags of goals.

Pick 37: Chris Johnson (F/S Rule). We need to take 1 tall, and Johnson is the obvious choice.

I really hope we do not get Raphael Clarke, other than that I'll wait till closer to the draft to make my predictions.

But who will they pick?

Pick 3: Hakmed Mohammed. A 21-year-old camel driver from the deserts of Morocco. A project player - we hope he'll be the next Jimmy Stynes.

Pick 5: Sven Olaf Johannsen. A 17-year-old Swede with a dodgy knee.

Pick 21: Colin Tappe. 43 years old, accountant and trainspotter from East Bentleigh. Met some football fans on the 5.32 tram to the city once.

Pick 37: Mick Martyn.

Although I haven't seen that much of him, I just don't recon he's worth such a high pick. He had a dissapointing championships, and I would prefer to go after a player like Dunn with that pick.

And with our 4th rounder we shall draft 25-year-old Nick Johnson. Straight out of remedial high school, Johnson is 190cm and 59kg. After a dissapointing 9 senior years of 3rds football he will finally get his chance to show his stuff with a spot in the starting 18.
