If Archie is correct and he’s now 204cm you can almost guarantee he’ll be taken at pick 2, regardless of which club has the pick.

Would love an X-Ray of his growth plates to get a guide of what height he projects to being.

So this is where he might be considered a pick 1 by some clubs, over duursma.

Replacement for
Blues a TDK and Curnow
Dees a gawn and key forward
Dons a draper and 2m Peter.

This is where we need to decide, do we want midfielders or not. Walking away with the top 2 picks and not taking a mid would be as dumb as you can get.

We have to accept for our list balance losing one of duursma or CDT has to happen.

If he is 204 cm, I am excited. Dons and Dees will want him more and the price war starts in earnest. Maybe even Tigers

My preference would Dons with 5+6 for 2+13. We then get to address our midfield with Sharp and Cumming. If the CDT competition becomes fierce, then we can drop the need for 13 going back and offer 33 + 41 + Saints F2. Decide on the day as to using 13 or banking into 2026.

Dees 7+8 has nothing but 41 going back. But we run the risk of not getting only 1 of the mids I rate in that early bracket. Here’s a left field option, go 2+13 for 7+8+Dees F1. We spread the drafting of elite mids out over 2 years. We would still walk away with Duursma, Cumming or Sharp and Schubert or Dovaston. Drafting Banfield this year along with Dev and the natural development of Gross, Hall and Allan would allow taking 2 top Enders next year. Do Dees stay bottom 4, get worse or move up. It would be some ride next year.

Then the Tigers want 2 for 4+F2. It woul give Duursma + Sharp or Cumming plus who we get at 13 and more value in 2026. It could also give us more options to get up to 9 with Blues.

I think Richmond are comfortable and won't be moved from picks 3&4, they're not motivated.

And essendon will want more than pick 1 for 5 & 6 given there recent antics, I don't see us moving 2 & 13 to 5 & 6 because Essendon will want Duursma.

Agree with the higher likelihood that anyone who trades up for 2 will be doing so to beat out their competitors for Robey.

Don’t think Richmond being Taylor here. Just let Young go as a talented KPD due to depth. Drafted Trainor last year. Think they go CDT or the next bpa midfielder here. Or trade for future capital.

The reason why if we move 2 it has to be for 5 or at least 6, grabbing sharp is a must if we don’t stick and pick at 2.

Have come to the conclussion 5 doesn't guarantee Sharp. 7 and 8 we likely miss both.

5 very likely gets one of either Sharp or Cumming IMO.

So in essence splitting 2 if we desperately want Sharp needs to be 3 or 4. A trade with Richmond who want CDT.

A trade for 5 and 6 is a gamble on Sharp.

But we could land Sharp and Cumming. Or one PLUS Dovaston.

Yeah I'm leaning back towards hoping we don't split and just taking Duursma/Sharp with 1&2. General feel seems to be Sharp is back up to being thereabouts with CDT in that draft range.

It will be a shame to miss Cumming but I don't see a scenario anymore where we can get all 3 of Duursma/Sharp/Cumming.

If true, what's the chance he can grow another 6cm over the coming years?

If hes 204cm then lock him in for us, thats plenty tall enough with his athletic ability

Grundy and jackson who CDT is compared to as underage rucks where utterly dominant as juniors its too much of a risk we dont need anymore utility types or projects on this stage of the rebiuld

CDT reminds me of Ethan Read as an underager TBH. Good athletic profile but not particularly dominant in any position at any level he played this year, except for perhaps school football, a level I couldn't care less about in my assessment of draftees.

Ah, but Essendon also learnt that if you really really want something, then the buyer needs to really really pay up. And get the best foot forward early.

My only concern around our list management strategy is that its anchored to a particular mini game style. So we need to be confident mini will here for a while otherwise we could be in a whole world of hurt.

Thanks for posting that clip.

It's a good reminder for all the CDT lovers that tell us that he reminds of them of Luke Jackson.

There are at least three significant points of difference between LJ and CDT:

1. One can take an overhead contested mark.
2. One can jump.
3. One wins ruck knocks and feeds his midfielders.

There are more than those three aspects of the game that distinguish the strengths and weakness of the two players, but thats the three most critical points of difference.
