Okay guys, time has come.

I hope we make the finals, I really think we will win this week against Brisbane and probably finish in the 8.

If we lose we will probably end up with a pick 6-8 range.

I believe if we can get pick 6 we will end up getting Rhys Palmer.

Pick 1 - Richmond - TOA --------- Matthew Kruezer - Ruckman - 199cm 91kgs - Northern Knights
Pick 2 - Carlton - HBF ----------- Trent Cotchin - Onballer - 184cm - 81kgs - Northern Knights
Pick 3 - Melbourne - Gily1972 ---- Cale Morton - Wingman/Utility - 192cm 75kgs - Claremont
Pick 4 - Essendon - Foj1 --------- Brad Ebert - Onballer -187cm 86kg - Port Magpies
Pick 5 - Fremantle - BoyfromWest - Chris Masten - Onballer - 179cm 80kgs - East Fremantle
Pick 6 - Adelaide - Thunderstruck - Rhys Palmer - Onballer - 180cm 76kgs - East Fremantle
Pick 7 - Bulldogs - Mjp ----------- Lachie Henderson - KP Forward - 196cm 90kgs - Geelong
Pick 8 - Saint Kilda - VicCrow ----- Alex Rance - KP Defender - 194cm 87kgs - Swan Districts

Rhys Palmer reminds me of Chris Judd, there is definitely something about this kid that's for sure. He could out a very special footballer.
Here's some footage of the champs with Palmer etc.
He's a hard running goal kicking midfielder who's hard at it and courageous.

For some reason youtubes footage is shown in countdown instead of real time lol so
Palmer's footage starts at 4:23
But definitely take a look at 3:26 at how I think this guy reminds me a little of Judd. Look at his speed and sidesteps in that set-play. We definitely need someone like this in our team.

Palmer is a gun no doubt. Saw his game in the WAFL last week and he kicked 3 goals in the first quarter alone. Has a massive tank and on the telecast they mentioned he had ran 18km’s when he had the tracking device on. Has good goal sense, good skills and has looks to be the kind of guy who could lift a team. But I highly doubt he’ll be around by our pick, in fact I would think it’s a near certainty Fremantle will take him with their first pick.

From all reports it’s a weak draft, but looking at it the first round looks to be pretty strong. I think our two main priorities should be:

• Quick, inside midfielder with good finishing skills,
• Tall key forward (people will say we have this area covered but we still need to draft another IMO)

As I’ve said we should look at Wonaemirri and McDonald. The former an electric, crowd favourite goal sneak and the latter a classy, confident midfielder with good skills.

Perhaps we should lose the last two games to make sure we can pick him up? ;)

Heard we're pretty keen on Mitch Farmer too. From Calder, we seem to like our Cannons boys.

He's a class act ......cool under pressure, great hand and foot skills

Never sure why he his predominantly a back pocket? .....he would need an engine because a specialist BP with Stiffy around ...no thanks.

Looks and moves very much like a young Tyson Edwards :thumbsu:

The other player catching my fancy is Fairclough......for some reason he isn't getting much hype .....looks strong and pacy with ....I don't know ...call ita gut feeling ...but he looks OK

Sorry to put a dampener on peoples musings... dont get excited by every kid in the land. We cant get them all and we only have around 4-5 picks.

Otherwise we will have plenty of Westhoff-Gill threads next year

Certainly put names up of kids that have talent etc but please dont have any '' we must draft player x or Ill never barrack for Adelaide again'' comments :)

Where did that air of optimism come from

He's a good player and has good goal sense but he probably doesn't have enough attributes to make it at the top level. About 175cm too so very small.

Really, what is the point of this post? So because we can’t draft more than 4-5 players, we can only get excited about this many youngsters?

Id say we need in no particular order, a 3rd tall backman to replace Bassett, pacy hard tackling crumber, pacy midfielder with good disposal, KPF but he must be good otherwise I would take another quick midfielder and Taylor Walker.

A priority is they must all have good skills, we need to improve our disposal a shit load.

I would hope McIntyre is the back up to Bassett...but who knows

I agree on your other points

I wouldn't mind Young Rioli. Kicked 8 goals in a game as a forward.. Exactly what we need although he would cost probably our first rounder.

Why would we need more defenders, Stevens has done a decent job of replacing basset. I don't really think we should be drafting defenders at this stage

I think the first pick has to be a midfielder. There is a very good chance Ebert could slip to us (there is a South Australian player every year who slides), but if he's gone you'd have to think one of the WA boys would be there. There's nothing much in the way of KP players this year, but we could stock up on some utilities and midfielders.

I noticed that Heir was named at fullback for the Eagles last week. Does anyone know how he is going or if he is worth as a potential fullback as McIntyre and Stevens are more of the third defender type. Heir was mentioned in the lead up to last years draft. We lack a backup for Rutten if he gets injured and it may allow us to swing him forward at times.

With our first pick in this year draft I would go for Scott Selwood, Rhys Palmer or the local lad in Brad Ebert. If Ebert was still around he would be snapped up pretty quickly and the first priority.

With our second pick I would look for a small crumbing forward, I would look at Adam Maric (no relation to Ivan) or Cyril Rioli (unlikely to be around at this stage of the draft) or even Drummond boy from Norwood Austin Wonaemirri. We need to add some pace to the forward line and I would use this pick on that type of player.

With the third selection in the AFL national draft the Adelaide Crows select Daniel Havelberg from the Centrals District football club. He has very strong hands with a quick lead. He can move out to centre half forward and is only 19. Having kicked the lazy 14 goals earlier this season; this may have increased his national exposure. He may need to be looked at with the second pick and Austin Wonaemirri taken with the third selection.

With the 4th pick I would take the best available midfielder or pass on this selection if no one was deemed suitable as this years draft has a perception that it has a shallow pool of talented players available.

Add Taylor Walker and Andrew McIntyre and we have added 5 or 6 good young player to the list.
