I don't put a lot of weight on the Morrish Medal, Oliver was probably helped in winning it due to not playing in the carnival or having AIS commitments.
When you look at the last few winners.

Not exactly a long history of the TAC Cup B&F going on to have an impact at AFL level.

Is this where people say Sam Bowie? You go best available excluding player types we don't need, eg. key defenders
In other words.. we go the best available midfielder. We don't need KPFs or KPDs or ruckmen. You go best available excluding player types we don't need, eg. key defenders

From what I remember reading about him, he made Ian Callinan look like a giant.Who is this Fortunato bloke? Looks like he wasn't very... fortunate with his AFL career

Played at VFL level with some success and also here with Westies I think. No AFL career.Who is this Fortunato bloke? Looks like he wasn't very... fortunate with his AFL career

i hope so, our club was at its best when the majority were SA boys, dont think we have enough atm.
Francis and Milera would be ideal for me.
B: Laird, Talia, Brown
HB: Francis, Lever, Hibberd
C: Smith, Sloane, Knight
HF: Menzel, Walker, Lynch
F: Betts, Jenkins, Cameron
R: Jacobs, Neale, BCrouch
I/C: MCrouch, O'Brien, Douglas, Hampton
yeah, I like that.

No.
You take best available player every single time and trade out what you don't need.
It's called being ruthless. If best available is a key defender, we draft him and make it work.

Unless Weitering slipped to Pick 9 there is absolutely no way we are picking up a KPD with our picks.
However to the AFC we might still be selecting "best available" as our rankings wouldn't place defenders very high in the ranks
He becomes multi-skilled, position wise.
Would a key defender be the best available at pick 9?

Riley Bonner or Luke Surman from Norwood.
We also have Otten, who is quite capable of playing as a KPF when needed. He wouldn't be the first one chosen, but he was picked ahead of LJ a few years back. Lowden is also (allegedly) capable of playing as a KPF if required. We don't need ruckman (from the main draft), KPDs (Hartigan, Talia, Lever, Shaw, Otten are enough), medium/small defenders (Brown, Wigg, Laird, Cheney, Kelly are enough), or half-back flanks (we just traded in Hampton and Seedsman, and we already have Jaensch, Smith, Henderson, etc.).
We do need one KPF (we only have Dear and Ramsey as backups for Tex, both late picks), midfielders, and potentially utilities
That's why we drafted them last year. Don't need to go to the same well two years running.I disagree, we do need KPFs. They take 5 years to play good consistent football and in 5 years time Tex will be 30. They cost an arm and a leg to get them by trade so for life after Tex we need to find an 18yr old future forward if not this year, in the next 2 years. Get him this year and when Tex is 30 the new guy can take on the #1 role in the forward line and extend Tex's career.
