I still think Milera will go to Gold Coast. Franis appears to be the player that will slide to 9 which would be great for us Carlton is one clib that can afford to take a game on Burton considering how many pick they have inside 20.

I am starting to think that Tucker is likely to be our choice at 13. I am OK with this and he seems to have a lot off attributes that we like in oir draftees. Buckenarra on road to the draft podcast had Darcy Tucker as top 10 player in this draft and said he is an absolute beauty.
A year ago would have been projected top 5 if not top 3

Francis will be gone. But there was never any hope for him anyway. Bombers fan. Lost cause.

Let's just get Milera and then whatever insidish hound dog is left at 13. If the last 5 years have taught us anything whatsoever, and let's not be morons, it's that winning the ball isn't half as important as using it

U may get your wish next year with Jarman Jnr. That's off course if he steps up a level...and nominates us

Works the opposite way around, we can trade multiple low picks for a higher pick to other clubs with academy or father/son selection because it could give the more points.

Seems as though there is a better chance of Francis being available at 9 than there is of Milera still being on the table.

If that's the case and we get to pick 9 with both Francis and Milera available we should land both.

9 Francis
10 Academy Currency
11 Burton
12 Ah Chee/Gresham
13 Milera

At which point the majority of the crowd will simultaneously drop their pants and perform the largest circle jerk humanity has ever witnessed.
Firstly I don't think both would be available at our pick 9, and secondly, Richmond would surely take Milera if available (even if they like AhChee).

You guys can make fun out of Wayne's-World all you like about his rant but he has a point here. While quite a few posters are being flippant with pick 13 and willing to take a massive risk or take whatever particular type of player is available, the club will certainly take it very seriously. Bottom line is that the club will not be taking big risks with either 9 or 13. They are looking for "certainties". No doubt about it.

I think both you and WW are overstating this "flippant" bullshit, it's just that other people may have a differing opinions on our "ideal" draftees, it makes them neither wrong or right..........OR flippant. Haven't seen hardly anyone suggest any players that aren't commonly thought to be top 20 or so by all of the media pundits.

Seems you've taken a dose of Wayne's exaggeration

Burton is the obvious one! The dude has not played for almost two years, didn't run beep test because of concerns of running it on hard surface and how the knee will pull up afterwards. His knee injury has been compared by his surgeon as those you see in motorcycle accidents. The same knee that is already bone on bone and doctors are hoping that scar tissue grows and replaces the cartledge. All of that as an 18 year old kid! Even if he is ready to go now how long a career do you think he will have?

That is the only one that I have ever questioned but seems to be a popular selection at pick 13 because "it's worth the risk at 13 because we get a gun at 9 attitude". Luckily the club will be a lot more thorough and ruthless when it comes to their decision making at pick 13.

I see it as more of a case of 9 for the Milera/McKay/Francis/Oliver type, which is to say best available (to me, the top 9 are Weitering, Schache, Parish, Weideman, Francis, Milera, McKay, Curnow and Oliver, so depends which 8 are chosen), then 13 being 'whatever inside mid is available'. The meaning of that statement being that there's Mathieson/Balic/Oliver/Hibberd(or Burton/AhChee) all as possibilities at that pick, so you'd want our highest rated still available of that group. It's not really saying 'just pick an inside mid, whoever is available', it's more that at that pick, it's projected that there probably will be 4 or 5 inside mids to choose from, who all would be solid picks, so depends which we rate highest.
Things will likely change, as more info comes to light in the next 2 weeks, but at this stage, that's how I see the first 13 picks going down.

2007: Dangerfield (Pick 10), best in his draft year
2008: Davis (Pick 10), lost to GWS; Sloane (pick 44), top 5 in his draft year
2009: Talia (Pick 13), top 5 in his draft year
2010: Smith (Pick 14), top 5 in his draft year
2012: Crouch (MD #2), top 5 in his draft year
2014: Lever (Pick 13), :thumbsu:

Not all that worried about who the likes of Carlton and Melbourne pick ahead of us, history tells us that half of these sides will **** it up and we'll end up with a star anyway.

I can"t see Milera lasting on the board till our second pick. If we want him we would have to hope he would be there at 9. I have a feeling the Gold Coast will select him as a replacement for Bennel. I reckon we will go Francis at 9 and we will be stoked to get him. At 13 I would select Collins. A ready made full back to strengthen our KPD stocks.
