Ffs i hope skippos is wrong in saying we take balic... slow midfielder that can't kick... we have so many of those already. I also don't like curnow... i think hes a case of bigger player against kids type thing. Well struggle in the afl.
The Pavlich, Patrick Cripps, Philosophy .......it's not the big body, just in isolation, that prevents advancement to AFL level ......often it's also a lack of footy IQ to think that brut strength is a players only way of getting the ball

Curnow has a very good footy IQ

Agree on Balic ......Meh!!!!

If we did go curnow with 9 then I'm assuming we'd rather a mid with 13,so balic is probably the best rated mid that's left over, what's Gresham like I know he's small but could he be a better option then Balic??

Why would we even consider someone (Curnow) who has made it clear throughout the year that he doesn't want to move interstate. Its a pity Francis didn't do the same.

What would happen if Carlton bid for Mills at pick 1? Would Sydney have enough points in the bank?
#1 is worth 3000 pts, so they would have to come up with 2400 after the discount. They would still be able to get Mills, but they would have to go into debt for next year's picks and their 4 remaining picks would become 86-89.

Note that they have 5 vacancies on their list, so these picks have to be used unless they want to go into the 2016 season with only 38-39 players on their list. They still have to take the mandatory 3 players, not sure whether they are upgrading any rookies this year to reduce that number.

Thanks Vader. I think I needed a detailed explanation to make sense of it. So we will need to stock up on draft picks next year for been Jarman especially since we won't have a second round pick.

Maybe. Depends on how he develops this year. You only have to come up with big points if the kid is genuinely top-10 material. You still have to pay after that, but the points are much lower.

I have yet to read anything indicating that Ben Jarman is a top-10 talent.

Boys, I'm around now with an updated phantom and power rankings - http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/skipposs-2015-draft-resource.1097140/

Shit is finally together. If you've got any questions tomorrow, I'll answer during the day or from the draft; just quote this (or one of my) posts.

Cheers.
Would we be any chance of grabbing both Curnow and Burton, if it fell this way? Or are we pretty much committed to McKay/Curnow/Burton/Collins and Milera/Balic/Ah Chee/other small?

Good players have a healthy Ego .....a swagger ....look at the Dangerfield swagger as example, he knows he's good
How do you think these kids get to this level, with all the thousands of kids out there who would love to be drafted, if they didn't believe in there ability, they would never of made there first rep side, let alone state. Only the cream gets to the top, unfortunately sometimes, self belief is a given.

Point 1 - Curnow is a w***er of the highest order by all accounts. If we have a no dickhead policy we wouldnt even be thinking of him. Massive flight risk as well. Weideman is 10 times a better option than Curnow. Milera every day of the week before him or Mckay.
Point 2 - Burton before his injury would have been pick 1 or 2 in this draft. Has the talent of Stringer easily. If his knee is ok then get him. His knee has the potential to end up cutting his career short though. Lots of arthritis and swelling after matches and training.
I would punt on him at pick 13, not a problem.
Would take him before Curnow and McKay to be honest.

Sydney have upgrade Naismith, but would need to make 3 picks tonight to hit the minimum 38 squad anyway (as they have 5 spots to fill, as you noted).

Well what did you expect to get for him? 3 first round picks I suppose.

Adequate compensation and what I expected to get for Dangerfield are 2 different things.

If there is some truth to what Melbourne offered last year, 2 picks inside the top 5 from memory would be adequate compensation.

Pick 9 and a 2nd round pick plus an untried player is not adequate compensation for someone rated in the top 5 of the AFL. It really isn't a hard equation to work out.

Now, what I expected to get in this trade period is a whole different kettle of fish because you then need to consider he was out of contract, he could have entered the draft and we could have got nothing.
In this scenario the club potentially got the best it thought it could get whilst negotiating with Geelong but the fact remains that the outcome of that trade is not adequate compensation for Dangerfield.
