The Phillips hype train is gaining momentum. Any chance he ends up going before Hollands??

I think it all depends on Adelaide

If they go McDonald it will be a cat amongst the pigeons

Haven't really heard to much hype around him so can't see him going before Hollands. Should be a massive surprise unless teams are concerned with his ACL.

Looking at this list I would gladly take

Rowe with Mozzie/Fanta out of action definitely need a small forward
Mitchell Duval with Saad/McKenna gone and Redman loosing form and Gleeson being trash surely he would find a spot at HBF
Keitel we need some more KPF who can go from round with Jones/Eyre going to be long term prospects

Absolutely nothing there that suggests quality.
That's a bit tough on Draper. Early days for him, yes, but some signs of quality. I saw him make a clean hit out to one of our own team at a stoppage!
I think the two issues there are Zerk isn't setting the world on fire so close to the likes of Hooker, Hurley & Ambrose retiring & McQuillan is yet to play.

Possibly a FB recruit holds for another year.
I've read different things, but is Brand more FB or CHB?
As with Reid. Seems to have the frame to be a beast FB, but the strengths seem to be his kicking/decision making.

If GCS don't trade their pick, i can see them nabbing him and sliding him in alongside Rowell & Anderson.
I've heard they were best mates last year?

Surely 3 mates together they won't do a bolt

No thanks.

why not? because of groin injury concerns? Watch his highlights.

Eth is correct - this kid will be a great pick up.

To me he's already bashing and crashing at senior SANFL level, can kick with both feet it seems and looks good at ground level. Unlike McDondald who seems to take more chest marks, Thilthorpe has more variety. I think the Crows would be mad not to take him number 1 personally.

Hope we keep the 3 picks... 3 shots at getting a good top 10 pick instead of 2.

Just noticed Lore you've got the Harry Potter award, my wife is a huge fan. She lined up for all the books on their release day, and she was happily standing in line with all the kids dressed up as wizards.
Haha I wasn't that crazy, I read the books when I was a kid only after the library got a copy that I could borrow (I bought them later when the soft covers were released). Happened to do a quiz on the GD board a couple of years ago, hence the badge 😂 I had a Pottermore account but it told me my patronus was a salmon, so I quit.

I got a bloody badger or mole something of that ilk I was pissed

Twomey's Q&A

About Essendon
Bombers have a great hand. If Will Phillips is available he should be one of their picks. As should Archie Perkins, who brings with him some size, speed and strength and will be a midfielder long-term. Zach Reid and Nik Cox would be debated as taller options. Ideally they'd like to get up to pick No.2 and try get either McDonald or Thilthorpe, but I'm not sure they should give up two top-10 picks to do that given where their list is at.

A bid for Brand would come before one for Eyre, although the Bombers will be hoping both don't come until much later in the draft. Brand has more runs on the board as a key back but Eyre tested well at the Combine as a key forward.

Re: Thilthorpe sliding to Essendon's picks: Not impossible but very unlikely, VB. Stranger things have happened.

Other mentions of Phillips, Perkins, Reid, Cox, McDonald, Thilthorpe

Crows weighing up McDonald and Thilthorpe and Elijah Hollands and all still in the mix for the top spot. Will be interesting to see if the local factor weighs heavily or if McDonald's runs on the board at senior level push him above.

Nik Cox may struggle to get to the Pies' first pick at 14 although I think he' be a very good chance to be snapped up then. A few other clubs before that will take a good look at him, including Essendon.

Will Phillips is right up there as the most ready to play. Would have dominated this year and can see him having an impact early in his career.

Hawks look well placed to get one of the Fantastic Five with their first pick and all would fill a need. Denver Grainger-Barras is an option for them if he's available, as will be Elijah Hollands. They've also done plenty of work on Will Phillips and Archie Perkins, and have been linked to a bid on Braeden Campbell. They also have Connor Downie coming through their NGA and will have to match a bid on him somewhere from 15-25.

Freo is in a good spot at pick 12. There's an even group of prospects after the Fantastic Five go, and they'll be able to get one of them. Heath Chapman has been heavily linked, while midfielders like Macrae and Archie Perkins, as well as forward Ollie Henry, would be in their mix.

Regarding Perkins at pick 18: Don't think he'll be there then, Perkins. Would be absolutely staggered. Looking more and more like a top-12 pick as we get closer to it.

Bidding on JUH

"Crows, North and Swans will all look very hard at bidding on Ugle-Hagan. Either way he's headed to the Dogs - they have the points and are ready to match."

Other Clubs

The Crows are likely to use only four picks, but there is a chance they get the NGA players - Newchurch and Borlase - as category B rookies if they fall through the national draft. Edwards is a second half of the draft proposition.

I'm of the belief unless North Melbourne is very comfortable with who will come after pick 5, then they should stick with where they are at the top end of the draft. Could they package up some later picks and offload them to a club looking for points? Potentially. But as for pick 2 I think stay there unless the offer is too good to refuse.

Gut feel is Swans take a tall, yep. Especially with Gulden and Campbell coming through who are on the shorter end. Grainger-Barras seems a nice fit for me.

I think the most likely option for the Suns will be them only using pick 5 at the draft and grabbing their Academy players as pre-selections.

It will be interesting to see if Carlton tries to push back up the order with a future pick or not. If they stay there it will likely come in a few spots given bids will wipe out other picks. I like Eddie Ford's talent, and the medium forward would have caught the eye this year. I see his range being from about No.35 onwards.

Dockers will be able to pay for both Western and Walker, I don't see bids coming for them inside the top 25. Everyone has different views which of the pair is ahead on their draft boards but they're pretty even players.

I like what the Dees have done. They're paying for their picks in credit. They should get a nice player at that spot of the draft - would Tom Powell or Brayden Cook get through? Finlay Macrae is probably off the board but is a sneaky chance.

The Pies will be hoping they can get their two picks in before a bid comes on McInnes, and I think that's the most likely scenario. Collingwood is also shopping its first-round pick for next year to try and get another pick in early this year, so watch this space.

West Coast have clearly prioritised next year's draft pool by trading out picks for the 2020 crop. They might only take one pick to this year's draft.

The midfielders potentially in that mix for the Tigers would be Powell, O'Driscoll, Carroll, Macrae, Trew. Also Zavier Maher and Sam Berry have their fans in the 20s part of the draft and are different players but both with some power.

Other Draft Prospects

Bruhn has his admirers very high. Swans list boss Kinnear Beatson mentioned he is in their thinking for pick 3. I think the most likely outcome is pick 6-12 for him. Lazzarro may be a shot post pick 30 as a tough hard working mid.

Macrae sits around the 10-15 mark for me.

Nathan O'Driscoll has plenty of fans among club land and could be picked inside the first 15 of so as a tall midfielder. he has tested well athletically as well and played some senior footy. For me he probably fits a bit after that but he will play some AFL footy next year and has a body that's ready to go.

I'm a fan of Tom Powell. Not many players in Australia had more of the ball than him. Really smart, clever, prolific and damaging midfielder who also goes forward. Draft range would be about 10-17 for him I think.

I like Chapman as a third tall defender who intercepts and runs. The knock is on his kicking but he's a good talent. Likely to be picked in the 10-20 range.

I think Jack Carroll fits in somewhere between 17-25. Midfielder who works through traffic well and also can play across half-back.

Stone is definitely one to keep an eye on late in the first round and early in the second. Has some interest at that part of the draft and I dare say he would have played some really good footy this year in the NAB League. Has shown he can be a goalkicker.

Cook will be a chance if he gets to the Crows. St Kilda also in the mix for him at their pick just before Adelaide gets in at the start of the second round.

Poulter will be a chance to be available then [at pick 22] but will be touch and go. He's had a great season and has plenty of clubs interested in him.

I'd take Powell ahead of Poulter. But they are different types, with Powell a smaller, more inside option and Poulter an outside kicker.

Winder would be a bit early for me at that spot [pick 25], but he did have a good season and put himself on the map in the WA colts competition. His composure has been compared to that of Shaun Burgoyne.

Ryan Angwin has some interest for sure. Let's hope he's as good as Xavier Duursma. They are both from the Gippsland production line and Angwin has had some interest around the top-30 mark.

A small goal kicker who may be a shot late [40+] is Jack Ginnivan from the Bendigo Pioneers. Corey Durdin from SA may also be a shot although he has played a bit of midfield time.

I think Maurice Rioli Jnr will be a late/rookie pick for the Tigers. This year would have been interesting to see how he went at the Oakleigh Chargers but it wasn't to be. He's got some talent, though.

My main feel on Baldwin after two knee recos is that clubs will want to see him back on the field again before taking the punt. However if they do get him late this year it could avoid him coming back next year, playing really good footy and costing a much higher pick. He's certainly got a lot of ability as a marking forward.

General Info

Top 20: Compared to 2018 a lot more unproven, a lot less star factor. But a chance for some clubs to get bargains deep in the top 20 because of that.

Hard to compare drafts but I will say that next year is always considered better much like the little brother is always talked about as being better and the grass is always greener. In saying that there are some well credentialed midfielders next year at the top end - probably more so than this year.

Tough year for the Tassie boys, with recruiters usually rating the prospects from that state via their performances for the Allies and in the Academy series. Jackson Callow will be one of the best chances as a versatile, marking tall.

Not many mature-agers on the radar this year. A couple of the South Australians have caught the eye - defenders Tom Highmore and Mitch Duval are chances, while James Rowe I think is a good shot at getting picked up after a stellar year in the SANFL as a small forward.

Yeah she is pretty full on, I got a few brownie points a while back when I bought her the 4K box set... and I got even more points watching them with her! I think I used them all up though having her watch some zombie stuff in return. :p

I suffer post osteitis pubis trauma, so I also think the Crows should take him. I do agree, though, he looks a player. Joe Daniher also looked good when he played.
Gumbleton
Daniher
Thilthorpe... do you really want to go down that road?

Surely we know how to fix guys with OP, right? Stewart had it and has looked better than ever since he came back. Don't think OP is a reason to pass on Thilthorpe if he's there.

It's not trading up for him. It's if he slides to our pick. He's a gun key forward/ruck, and when you have two picks immediately after that, you take the risk
