Look at us. Debating what to do with top end draft picks .... At least this draft is looking a bit more meaty than the last time we had two picks in the top 10.
Imagine if the drafts were different and we got Ben king and bailey smith instead of parish and francis

Tell me about it. The year we had two top 10 picks for the first time in a while and we get one of the weaker drafts.

Wright is 24 and couldn’t get a game for the suns. What evidence is there that he will make a hats worth of difference. I don’t mind pursuing him for a 5th round selection and take 2 years of his salary. I prefer quality over quantity in furnitureand as I got more mature alcohol and food 😝
Suns only play two KPF Day and Kingdom

It grinds me the same as when the afl changed compensation rules for winning less than 5 games.
we could have got gumbleton and Selwood!
collingwood got Thomas and pendlebury a year or too earlier!

So?
they came lower than us and he couldn’t get a game.
in football currency he is worth the salt on your saladas.
i am not doubting his ability but he has little competitiveness and not fond of physical contact.

They only finished lower by a bounce of the footy. Their percentage was far superior the ours too

Yeah we got screwed on that one. Carlton would have absolutely taken Leuenberger with pick 3 (and Sheedy said we had fancied Selwood at 4). Definitely a huge case of sliding doors.

i like his football smarts more than anything.
he has the motor to run up and down the ground and aerobically Punish his opponent. He can win the footy on the lead and he can take a pack mark though I don’t reckon that will be his strength.
he is a good kick of the footy both at goal and also as a field kick. He also makes good decisions with the footy.
i hope he aspires to play like Nick reiwoldt.
He probably uses his body the best I’ve ever seen from an underage key, ability to protect the drop zone or create first contact with his opponent to put them off balance. Can sometimes take key forwards 3-4 years before they learn to do that

I think we are more culpable than just bad luck. We have traded out of some great drafts and not traded players away when we should have to maximise value.

You are getting 2 and 20
7 and 8 will get slightly devalued by juh and Campbell bids at very least
i am sick of having my side lacking any semblance of a high functioning forward line

Function doesn’t come from talent though, we’ve tried the shitload of unbelievable forward talent approach and it hasn’t worked.

Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t be upset provided we don’t pay through the nose but I don’t think that’s the best way forward in this case.

I’d draft 3 smalls with our first 3 picks

A forward line full of agile blokes that all fail at kicking accurately and competing physically isn’t what I’d call talented. You can get away with one or two but you have compliment them accurate users and physical beasts.

That is the flip side. We have made mistakes and not really targeted a draft in particular. It is annoying as we have never been the worst going around as far as draft blunders and overall drafting but when we have had the chance to push up into one of the best drafting clubs we have either shot ourselves in the foot or had good picks in an average draft.

A 'fantastic five' has emerged in this year's draft group that is influencing how clubs look to use their first-round picks.

Recruiters believe there is now a clear group of five players – Logan McDonald, Riley Thilthorpe, Elijah Hollands, Denver Grainger-Barras and Will Phillips – who have separated themselves from the next tier of the draft class.

Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, who is tipped to be a very early selection for the Western Bulldogs, is not included in the group as he will join the club as a Next Generation Academy pick. The 'fantastic five' are all in the open draft pool.

It is why clubs are keen to see if they can package picks to push up the order into that bracket, and also why the clubs with the first five selections (Adelaide, North Melbourne, Sydney, Hawthorn and Gold Coast) could be reluctant to shift back down the draft order even for multiple early selections

Next Tier
Bruhn Perkins and Henry

If one of the 5 slip. There will be offers for our pick.

I can’t believe O’Driscoll isn’t in there. I’m so hot for him. Attributes wise he’s 6 kilos off Tom Green who was IMO the definitive talent of last years draft. Maybe even a slightly better user.

Im surprised Cox isn't there tbh

A chance E.Hollands slips to us at pick 6?

Adelaide 1 - Thilthorpe
North 2 - Logan Mcdonald
Sydney 3 - Denver G Barass
Hawks 4 - Currently being linked to W.Phillips
Gold Coast 5 - Does Elijah Hollands want to go to the GC?

Dodo will be In his ear

E.Hollands
Bruhn
B.Cook

Would be nice
