Not so sure about these comments that you can easily find a KPD at pick 60. The top teams have gun key defenders. We need one. Zerk probably ain't going to be it and Hurley and Hooker are past it. Our problem is going to be having too many middling or undeveloped talls. If someone like Reid looks like they can become our Rance/Andres/Taylor etc, then we should grab him.

Can turn forwards into defenders pretty comfortably

Richmond played with a pretty 'middling' backline. Astbury didnt operate heaps their this year. Grimes was the 2nd tall defender and he was basically the same player Ridley was without kicking ability at the same age.

I think Francis as the 2nd tall is fine.

Hes a decent bit bigger than guys like Grimes, Gardiner geelong pulled Henderson back as an old man from the rookie list, Harry T was what 34 on last legs

With getting Cox early and also Brand/Eyre late i think our talls look pretty good. Id only consider going 2 talls if Thilthorpe was one hes a bit different do the Cox/Reid and can probably play as the tall full forward for some time and chop out in the ruck

Whats the knock on McInnes? I don't understand can someone explain why we shouldn't bid on him at 6. He seems the full package with his speed and 2km time trial, just to add to the fact he's 193 cm inside midfielder. There couldn't really be a more perfectly suited player to our needs..

Yep, if he wasn't NGA he would be pick 8 hands down for us since he's exactly what we need.

Essendon are on the clock, we select McInnes with pick 6, don't even discuss this with Collingwood because they could always try to trade above us if push comes to shove.

Even ignoring he's exactly what we need, he's worthy of being in pick 8 range or that he's an Essendon supporter (which would probably more than offset the disappointment of not going to Collingwood, it's not like he's going to north) the cherry on the ****ing top is we either steal a potential top 5 player in this draft from Collingwood or completely **** over their early draft picks which makes even more of a mockery of their List Management from Ned Guy and co.

On McInnes:

McInnes enjoyed a three-game stint in the NAB League last season where he averaged 27 disposals, 10 contested possessions, five clearances and seven tackles per match.

Bid at pick 6 pls.

i doubt it happens though. And I think we’ll find out by pick 6 if we don’t bid on him that a deal will be struck with pies for pick 8. I’m leaning towards pick 14 and 16 for 8, pies will keep future first to trade next year for established player.

But then what do they do when the crows bid next pick at 9?

Huge deficit of points from their first next year

Edit: I feel Brisbane or Hawks play a part somewhere in pick swaps with pies/us in 3 way maybe

I think Brissy will want to move 25 up before Coleman and/or Hawks before Downie with pick 24, they have some really good points in the early 40s

Both clubs will be eyeing pick 16 from pies

Harris Andrews, Hooker, McGovern (pick 44 in the rookie draft), Stewart, Blicavs (rookie draft), Grimes (rookie draft). It's actually the easiest type of player to find after HB flankers IMO.
None of them are even close to first rounders. In fact, only two of the best KPDs are top 10 picks and Moore wasn't even recruited as a KPD. Even Ambrose does a good job and he was a rookie pick. Unless the talent is too good to ignore (eg Weitering and DGB), then I'm of the opinion we shouldn't select a KPD in the top 10. I'd always go best mid, KPF or versatile KPPs unless that's the only part of the ground we need to fill.
Therefore, I'd select Cox over Reid.

One thing we've consistently been good at is drafting and developing KPDs. Brand is a KPD and Eyre + Cox are perfectly capable of playing in defence if needed.

The only KPD I'd select with one of our picks is DGB, but he won't be available.

What other draft picks do we have to give back that provides them with enough draft points yet doesn’t hurt our chances with Brand and Eyre.

Some good points there in fairness. I didn't quite know the history of when some of those guys were selected other than Hooker. Probably pushes me towards Cox then rather than Reid for the flexibility. And also go for 2 best mids available unless say Thilthorpe slides which seems unlikely.

No no no, I’m with you, I think Reid over cox, wouldn’t mind cox if we can get him with a pick 14/16. I’m concerned Cox won’t be effective in the congested hot potatoe/ body on body environment. But that’s my opinion.

There’s still been good top 20 KPD taken. Glass, Rance, Hurley, Talia, weitering.

Cox I personally like just because if he does struggle in the congested environment then he has the fall back option of switching to a flank or wing. But I think it is very close between him and Reid, I'm probably being tempted by Cox's physical attributes.

Agree on your second point, it's very easy to come on and cherry pick players picked at certain positions to prove/disprove a point of whether someone is taken too high.

Im not worried about Brand and Eyre.

We will have 6 live picks from memory. Maybe 7 actually is Draper promoted to the senior list before or after? Think it might be after

Even those 70-85 picks by the time a bid comes will be well into 60s maybe even shorter. Cal Twomey keeps saying around 50 picks wouldnt expect too much more. Also any bids after pick 56 dont require any points just a match, im pretty sure on those rules read them somewhere.

Hey bombers.

Bruhn/reid/Henry with a bid for McInnes in there somewhere is my mail for you lot
Hmm. I'd be a little disappointed if we went with that.

I don't like passing on Perkins (assuming that none of the top 5 slipped). Doesn't Henry eventually want to play with his brother at Geelong? I'd probably pass on him unless we trade back.
There's also better options for us than Reid considering we're getting Brand and Eyre as NGA.

I like McInnes and Bruhn though. Perkins, Cox, O'Driscoll and even Carrol are better options for us than Henry and Reid. If the club wants to go with Reid and Henry, then I'd back them I guess.

Could see something like that if we split 8 for 14/16.

Hopefully that's all fake news, just Dodo messing with the Cat's heads.

I think this option is on the cards. We have been talking future 1st, but this seems maybe more likely. Pick 2 that you really want early, say Perkins and Cox. Say to Collingwood we will bid on Reef at 8... Then grab a couple more like Henry and O'Driscol a bit later.
Seems like an OK plan. 2x top 10s and 2x top 20s.

If you don't like it, sorry. Not trolling, just bringing you what I hear. I don't know 100% for certain but my source SHOULD know.
