No real problem with Bruhn at 183 if he's as classy as they say. Will need to put the weight on but so did Josh Kelly. Id prefer a bid on Reef happened before just picking Bruhn though. Reid over Cox wouldnt really bother me although not sure why you'd pass on Cox whos kicking on both sides is supposedly elite, hes filled out more at this stage added to his elite endurance and speed. Henry over Perkins would annoy me purely because Perkins looks to fill a couple of needs in the one package. If we dont rate Perkins id prefer to see us trade that pick back for a couple of genuine mids or a mid and a utility.

Like I said. Would be in the better results.
As far as rankings go sure it is good if you are getting 80% of the top 50 inside your best 50 ranked players but the real test is how those rankings look after 5 years once they have played.
Correct as I said I care more about the rankings because that’s who I think will have better afl careers, rather than who clubs will pick based on needs and so forth.

If Cox & Perkins are on the board at 8, and we're keen on Henry, do we take the gamble on the trade back for an additional pick thinking Perkins & Cox could impact the outcome

6-Bruhn (Ess)
7-Reid (Ess)
8-Cox (coll)
9-Macrae (ade)
10-Chapman (GWS)
11-Perkins (North)
12-Cook (freo)
13-Powell (GWS)
14-Henry (Ess)
15-Laurie/Stone (GWS)
16-O'Driscoll (Ess)

2x mids, 3x KP's & a medium type.

The risk with trading back is you had better have 2 or 3 plans. Even more so this year. Never know who may get picked. You could end up picking players you ranked worse.

Whereas Cal has to be more accurate with the order and who picks who as his is more an insight into who may pick who rather than who becomes the star player.

my question would be could Cox not be what we want from Henry?
at 200cm, with that endurance, elite disposal and pace, he's surely a good marking option too.

Bruhn, Reid & Cox?

Are you talking about 80% of kids in the top 30 or 80% of correct club picks in his top 30?

I think Cal watches the kids as much as anyone outside of the AFL. I also think hes the closest to knowing what clubs are thinking outside the AFL

Hes not 100% no one is he knows alot more what clubs are thinking than you and me.

This year might be different he hasnt been overwatching interviews, had face to face chats with recruiters and scouts

I also no doubt feel he is used as a source to give wrong information to at times and guys like Dodoro would seize on that if they thought their was some benefit to it

i do have this in mind.

Assuming top 5 go as expected
Bruhn & Reid are our picks.

for 14, you'd want 7 on your board.
For 16, an additional 2 though i think Chapman & Cook wouldn't be on our radar and go in that range

So you're a good chance of 2 of Henry, Powell, O'Driscoll, Cox, Poulter, Macrae and Perkins

If we were hoping one of the 3 Cal has us taking to slide, who do you think would most likely get to the pick?

Henry probably most likely. All 3 would be most likely to be gone though. If we went back we'd maybe hope for them but have our eye on some other back up options.

Are Hawthorne supporters delusional thinking we would trade 6 & 8 for 4 and 24 if McDonald is still there at their pick?

Which is the difference between power rankings and a phantom/mock draft. One is purely a ranking on ability/potential, the other you're trying to predict which club takes which player in which order with a host of other factors – character, motivation, go home factor, type, style and fit with the existing list, where the build is at and what you need, etc. Half of that information you can't get without it being leaked from a club. Plus add bids and matching and then make half the draft pool not play for a year, and it's almost a complete guess. That's why most draft watchers do power rankings up until a couple of weeks before the draft – eDPS is one of few who does a rolling mock all year round.

Cal's power rankings would be as good as anyone's a month out, certainly as good as another well-known draft watcher who is worshipped around here despite apparently not watching virtually any of the WA or SA players all year until a couple of weeks ago. That person didn't buy any of the subscriptions for the WAFL or SANFL footage despite them being necessary to do his job properly and thus also a tax deduction given his employment with ESPN.

So 'not recruiting the same type of player'. At least we won't get 3 flankers.
Also mentioned that most of our scouts got stood down with COVID and most of those ended up working voluntarily for the club during lockdown :eekv1:

The more I look at it, Henry must be rated a better prospect than Perkins whom would be competing for a list spot with, Reid v Cox is similar whilst Bruhn is the highest rated mid possibly on the table still.

If a Maher, O’Driscoll had less question marks then we could absolutely go them but Bruhn’s class is more appealing that the supposed big bodied mid.

Add in that he won’t be playing big mid minutes in 2021 where we could take that mid we’re crying out for who would more likely be ready to play straight away.

All in all, I don’t think we can be too disappointed with who we take at 6, 7 & 8
