Hawthorn will select Tim Cole with Pick 18 if not taken already.

Really? I would've thought they'd take Tom Cole instead.

Not sure if Schache really should be who we draft I guess because he's a forward he's linked to us but Carlton could easily draft him at 1 and Collins at 11

I reckon Carlton should do that, but won't.

Wietering is a lock. Why do you reckon we should pass on The best KPP in the draft with strong leadership qualities?.

Yes we need goal kickers but not at the expense of the best player in the draft. The new coach will teach the hawthorn way of kicking goals - a spread amongst many. Will look for a KP forward at 8,11 or 19..

...Weitering is in my book the 'surest bet'. If I were betting on a bloke who I know will get 200+ games, he is the one.

Same. I have no doubt that a number of players will turn out better in the long run, but Weitering is what we need. We're rebuilding from absolutely nothing, so putting one reliable, consistent pillar in place is pretty vital.

Pretty much, even the top 10 (academy selections aside), apart from Weitering there are questions on every single one of them. Weitering is that far ahead as the number 1 pick it isn't even close.

Essendon haven't spoken with Mitch Brown about drafting him. Expect him to be drafted in the 20-40 range, with up to five clubs interested.

Might be a reach, but Fremantle should take Mitch Brown at 22. They have Pearce to takeover McPharlin's role, but it's a big ask to expect him to hold such a position at 20 without hiccups.

We still have Dawson, Johnson, Silvagni and A Pearce. Would be happy to look at him at 35 if the club thought he would be handy in our forward line. We desperately need another forward who is ready to go.

We have 35 which is as early as I would use for him. I think pick 22 is too much.

Glass-Mcasker (sp?) at 35 or later and best available at 22 might be a better strategy.

Let me whip down to the chemist. Get you one of those arse gaskets for you to sit on.
Seems you are still a bit hurt "down there" after the PD thing..

Makes you cranky when you post.

And yes, we'll be happy to slide into our picks around the 50's. Looking forward to Wells finding another Gregson type from SA that your blokes don't rate and then get bitter about him doing well.

Go Catters
What, like Dean Gore?

What's the question regarding parish?

Light frame (i.e. will he get to an AFL body?) would probably be the one but he is the 2nd best in the draft (academy aside) in my book. At least he has shown consistent performances.

Depending on who bids for Mills, I reckon the Swans would be mad not to go for him if possible. Would go above Xav Richards and Aliir in the depth chart, and would most likely be a replacement for Richards or Grundy

your first paragraph outlines a lot of good work that sadly has been undone by disgraceful governance, likely doping, salary cap cheating in 1993.

back on topic, there's strong word the hawks will take Dan Rioli if he gets to them in the first round
Hawks keen on Rioli at 18 and Dogs are super keen on him too if he gets that far ... apparently.

Prefer Hartley personally, I feel Brown will go earlier than our late selections unfortunately.

Because Schache & Collins is better than Weitering & McKay.

Nah. The only two you can guarantee are weitering an Schache. Weitering is significantly better than Schace; you take weitering every day of the week. No-one can say who will be left at no. 8. And on your own post, why would we not take Collins if we take weitering? It's not like we are flush with defenders..

The only two you can guarantee are absolutely none of them, because they're fresh kids and anything can happen. The touted 'best player in the pool' is rarely if ever the best player in the pool. It's an opinion, mate, you're welcome to disagree with it, but don't mistake your own opinion for fact.
