WCE had Lalor 1 and FOS 2, Jagga didn't want to leave Melbourne and Draper if he didn't get to stay in Adelaide preferred to move east. Once Lalor rose up the boards and neither of the first two were likely available we were almost certain to split. If he had of held pick 3 we would have drafted Langford.

Did Jagga tell WCE straight up that he didn’t want to leave Melbourne, or was it more hinted/ implied?

Did WCE view the drop from Langford to Bo Allan as being a big drop in quality, or do they see them as being fairly similar players over their careers?

I liked Richmond’s strategy as it looked like an absolutely ideal draft to load up on “talls”, in the 20’s and 30’s in particular.

I said pre draft that I wouldn’t have minded if we’d split pick 8 (which became 10) for say 3 picks in the 20’s or so, and gone tall with those picks.

As much as I love Tauru, is he really likely to be better value than grabbing say all of Shanahan and both Whitlocks, instead? Or Armstrong, Shanahan and M Whitlock?

Obviously doing it that way would cost a couple of extra list spots, but it gives you 3 bites at the cherry instead of one.

So yeah, I’m all on board with Richmond’s strategy.

I love the tauru pick a little risk associated but if he can stay injury free on pure talent and athletic traits alone has the potential to end up the best player in the draft , there is also a good history with players that rapidly move up the draft boards late

To be fair, Lynch is ****ed physcially so not exactly an achievement, and Nank has many talents, but jumping is not one of them....

I think the issue is that the records don't show up everything. Being at games and seeing him take a hit to the head, and stagger around for a bit is sometimes the only way that you'd know if he'd been concussed or not.

Not sure. But access to those logs even if they are taken aren't a given.

Trainor is known to have multiple concussions and concussion concerns phil_WCE is apart of our Victorian scouting team and if he says he has had 6 concussions I’d be very much inclined to believe it. He had two reported ones this year alone

Easily brisbane. Winning the premiership and getting the best player in the draft pool for a few junk picks is as big a win as it gets.

Hindsight may tell a different story and maybe Faul turns out to be great.

But as of right now not Richmond not going small and taking Reid/berry at 11 (14) was definitely a mistake. Given the premium being placed on SFs/Goal kicking mids and having loaded up on bigger mids already. Taking Reid/Berry (alongside Hotton) was such an easy free hit.

Teams always say “you need talls/Build a spine” but the truth is that you don’t need a good ruck and you can always trade for good Forwards/Defenders or get them in Free Agency if you have the right combination of a deep talented list and available opportunities.

If Richmond go small at with their 4th pick they still have 4 first rounders to take a chance on some talls at 18,+ your twenties picks . 3 After that North trade.

Presumably they take 3 forwards. 1 succeeds, 1 fails and becomes a defender and one doesn’t make it.


Besides typically your star forwards are talked about going top 5 all year. That there wasn’t a player who fit that mould this year is all the more reason to stay away

But Richmond did go small after the talls. We picked up Algar with a future 4th. A lot of mock drafts had him going in the mid-late 20s. If we'd picked up Algar with 28 and not picked Sims do you think we would have had a better draft?

Grimes was the best defender in the league because he... intentionally infringed at every contest knowing the umpires were not going to call 80 free kicks a game, thereby allowing himself to defend illegally and making him the "best defender" (not that he ever actually was even if you take his cheating into account) - this was the Richmond gameplan, surely you know this if you watched them?

We'll see on Lynch, he's 32 and played 8 games in the last two years.

Never said Nank was cooked. In fact said he had many talents, but he's not, and has never been a leaper.

I'm all for any and all rookies doing well, so good luck to him, but we'll hold off praise until he shows it in a real game.
