Put things on your CV that will advantage you for the specific job that you're applying for, but try to keep it to two pages of important content. If that includes your high school then so be it.

Oh, and don't put a stupid photo of yourself on your CV. I received one once from a guy looking similar to this:

Don't call us. We won't call you either.

It's not common practise. The only person i know who does that has no idea.

I received a CV from a girl who was mid to late 20s, was only a headshot that she used but it was fairly obvious why. Mildly amusing but didn't help her at all.

The friend i know does the same thing for the same reason. It's just so so stupid but she is convinced it will help her.

Typing pool days, cigars and whiskey in the office are over. Why hire a girl just because she's pretty when you can quite easily find a smart AND pretty girl. :)

I do agree with you, but not everyone does just yet. I'm sure those photos still do help some people in some situations..

Even reception is hard and requires some skill (i've done it before, trust me, it's much harder than it looks).

Females are not going to hire a girl on the basis that she's hot, so you'd want to be sure who you're sending your resume to. Yes some males may, but the girl would have to have some clue about the job. I doubt they'd ONLY hire her becuase she's hot. Unless she's applying for a job as a sex slave.

Those are not the job applications I receive at the moment.

I didn't mean to imply that it would only be on the basis of the photo. But it does make people read the resume, and help get them an interview..

Speak for yourself.

I also won an academic scholarship to one of the top 10 schools in the state. The difference was, as soon as I left and went to uni, I reflected on how ridiculous and unfair "the system" you talk about was and how limiting it is for the people themselves and the rest of society that have to put up with the "realities" of the "system."

I live my life away from the security blanket of some ridiculous, albeit powerful, security blanket and see it for what it is. Pathetic. I have stayed friends with many from the school, I have nothing against them, but have noticed that they have an unbelievably narrow array of friends and partners: most literally only hang around with school friends still.

There is a whole world out there outside of this limiting old-school network that you have convinced yourself is reality. Go and see it if you are not too scared.
Where on earth did he say he didn't have friends outside of his school network? I also went to a highly respected high school, and I will always have it on my CV for that very reason (not that it really helps in my profession). I still have close mates from school, but don't bother with any of the old scholar events. And I have plenty of close friends from university. My parents worked their arses off to send me to that school, and I'm not gonna feel bad about it because someone sees it as 'pathetic'.

If they ever mention my degree, I just say "Well, lots of people do stupid things when they're young, but it's a shame when they follow you around for the rest of your life." It breaks the ice from them not knowing what Philosophy of Science is, and makes me not sound like a space cadet egghead.

Snobbery and reverse snobbery are equally silly, in my view.

We all play the hand of cards we are dealt, and in Australia we are already using a pretty good deck. Some people receive more advantages than others, and that's life. Doesn't make them inherently better or worse than anyone else.
